IKEA Gwangmyeong store conducts consumer survey to celebrate 100th day since opening

‘Affordable price’ selected as the biggest benefit for purchasing at IKEA

[March 18, 2015 - Seoul] IKEA Korea conducted consumer survey in celebration of the 100 days since the opening of the IKEA Gwangmyeong store.

Opening on December 18 last year, the IKEA Gwangmyeong store has been continuously treasured by many Korean consumers with its practical and affordable home furnishing solutions. The store welcomed 2,200,000 visitors on March 18, a few days prior to 100 days since the store opening. Almost 300,000 people signed up to be IKEA® FAMILY member.

In order to provide a more fun and convenient customer experience and improve the service quality of the IKEA Gwangmyeong store, IKEA conducted a consumer survey on 500 store visitors. The survey contained questions regarding demographics and store experience.

The biggest benefit for shopping at IKEA was affordable price. 45% of the survey respondents reported that good price was the biggest benefit, followed by design(39%). Also, 88% of the respondents perceived that the products were appropriately priced or low-priced. Among the respondents, 96% of the respondents planned to visit the store again. On the other hand, there are improvement factors such as goods availability and crowded store due to popularity.

According to the survey results, majority of the store visitors fell between the age of 30s (41%) and 40s(35%), with most respondents(89%) living in Metropolitan Seoul area. Almost half of all the respondents were housewives(47%), but many were also office workers(35%). There were substantially more female (74%) visitors than male(26%).
