Strengthens Omni-channel with more affordable delivery services

[Seoul – April 19] Home furnishing retailer IKEA Korea will introduce a new delivery service fee at a more affordable price starting from April 19.

IKEA Korea will adjust delivery services fees to apply the same furniture delivery fee based on delivery address, for both online and offline orders. Furniture delivery fees, which were previously KRW 49,000 for offline orders and KRW 59,000 for online orders, will be reduced by up to 50%. A delivery fee of KRW 29,000 will be charged to areas in Seoul, Busan, Incheon, and Gyeonggi-do (*excluding certain areas) and KRW 39,000 won to all other areas except Jeju.

The fee for the External Pick-up Point Service will also be reduced from KRW 19,000 to KRW 9,000. IKEA Korea piloted the External Pick-up Point Service in six regions in cooperation with GS Caltex since October of last year, and has recently expanded the service to **11 regions thanks to positive responses from customers who order in small quantities. The External Pick-up Point Service is available for all online and offline orders, and will be expanded mainly in areas where there are no IKEA stores.

IKEA Korea has continued to invest and strive to make IKEA's home furnishing solutions more convenient and affordable to the many. In August of last year, IKEA introduced a parcel delivery service with fees of KRW 3,000, 5,000, and 8,000, according to product size and weight, providing a wide range of delivery options. As the retail environment and customer needs are rapidly changing due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, IKEA Korea plans to accelerate omni-channel expansion so that the many can enjoy more convenient shopping experiences anytime, anywhere.

“I hope that this updated furniture delivery fee, which knocks down the boundaries between online and offline, will allow more people to create a happier life at home with IKEA’s home furnishing products and solutions,” said Nicolas Johnsson, IKEA Korea Commercial Manager. ”We will strive to continue to provide a variety of convenient and affordable services that reflect the needs of our customers.”
