IKEA Korea opens IKEA Pick Up Point

[Seoul – May 31] Home furnishing retailer IKEA Korea will open the ‘IKEA Pick Up Point’ on the 31st in Unam-dong, Buk-gu, Gwangju, providing a convenient omnichannel shopping experience with inspirations on how to create your dream home.
The IKEA Pick Up Point is a new customer touchpoint where customers in Gwangju, who have difficulty visiting IKEA stores in person, can directly experience IKEA's home furnishing products and solutions and use affordable delivery services. As a home furnishing leader that strives to help create a better everyday life at home, IKEA plans to enhance its omnichannel services by offering online shopping opportunities and offline home furnishing experiences that increase convenience and accessibility.
The IKEA Pick Up Point, which will be operated for six months in a two-story building with a total area of 162㎡, consists of a pick-up space on the first floor and the ‘IKEA Home’ center on the second floor. In the pick-up space on the first floor, customers can receive products purchased from various IKEA online channels, such as the official online store, IKEA app, and orders through phone or chat. The pick-up service cost is KRW 9,000, and it can be used for products whose length does not exceed 180cm on one side and whose volume is less than 0.5CBM.[1]
On the second floor is IKEA Home, a dedicated space decorated like a home that embodies the spaces we use in our everyday lives, such as the living room, bedroom, kitchen, dining room, kid’s room, workspace, and so forth, inspired by IKEA’s home furnishing ideas and solutions. In particular, visitors can touch and feel some of IKEA’s best-selling products, such as the VALEVÅG pocket sprung mattress, the SÖDERHAMN sofa, and the KALLAX shelving unit.
In addition, IKEA will provide an omnichannel shopping experience that allows customers to more conveniently enjoy IKEA’s home furnishings. Customers can receive information about a variety of non-face-to-face services, such as ‘human remote sales’ which guide you from professional advice to product purchase, the ‘online planning service’ that offers consultations on home furnishing planning, and the ‘self-planning service’ for designing homes and furniture in a way that reflects individual tastes and personality.
Various events have been prepared to commemorate the opening. For two months until July 31st, service fees will be free of charge at the IKEA Pick Up Point, and various events such as gift offers and IKEA Home tours with home furnishing experts will be held for visitors until June 14th.
“We are delighted that customers living in the Gwangju area can more easily access us through the IKEA Pick Up Point, especially because it gives them the opportunity to directly touch and feel our home furnishing products and solutions,” said Fredrik Johansson, Country Retail Manager at IKEA Korea. “We hope that many more people can enjoy convenient omnichannel shopping at the IKEA Pick Up Point and create their homes into happier spaces through IKEA.”
