This website (www.ikea.kr) (the “Website”) is managed and operated by IKEA Korea Ltd. (the “Company” or “we”).

The Company bears responsibility to protect and manage customers’ personal information. With this privacy policy (this “Privacy Policy”), the Company notifies you of its policies on the use and protection of personal information. Please review closely this Privacy Policy before subscribing to or using the Website.

This Privacy Policy is subject to change in accordance with the applicable laws, regulations, orders, or the Company’s internal operation policy, and in such cases, changes shall be notified on the notice board in the main page of the Website or a separate webpage, in writing, or via facsimile or e-mail.

This Privacy Policy shall go into effect as of December 14, 2015.


2. Our Responsibility to Protect Your Personal Information

The Company is responsible for protecting and managing your personal information. This Privacy Policy specifies the reason why the Company collects your data and how to process such collected data. The Company shall process your data in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations. The Company collects the data for reasonable purposes, and shall protect the data in a safe manner.


3. Items We Collect and How We Collect Thereof

Your personal information may be collected by the Company in the following cases:

• When contacting the Company online (inquiry messages within the Website, customer service call centers, etc.); or
• When participating in various events held by the Company

In the above cases, the Company may collect your personal information as follows:

• Name, phone number, e-mail address, personal information contained in inquiry messages, personal information as required for participating in events (images, photos, personal story, etc.), Website access logs (IP address, cookies, etc.)
4. How We Use Your Personal Information
The Company uses your information in various activities as follows:


4.1 Marketing activities

• If you give consent to receiving certain marketing information from the Company in the future, the Company may provide marketing information via phone, text or photo message, e-mail, mail or other written form.


4.2 Inquiry-related contacts

• The Company may utilize your personal information to reply to your means of contact, including e-mails that you send via the Website.


4.3 Website improvement and security reinforcement

• The Company may utilize your personal information to improve the Website and optimize the Website content to your computer or mobile devices.

• The Company may utilize your personal information to resolve issues, including customer identification arising in relation to the use of delivery services, assembly and installation services, and other services provided by the Company.

5. Period of Processing and Retention, and Methods for Destroying Personal Information

5.1 Period of processing and retention of personal information

• As a general matter, your personal information shall be destroyed immediately upon achieving the purpose for the collection and use of the personal information or the lapse of the agreed retention period. However, if it is required to retain the personal information in accordance with applicable laws and regulations, including the Korean Commercial Code and the Act on the Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce, Etc., the Company shall retain and use your personal information for the period and purpose as specified under relevant laws and regulations.


5.2 Destruction of personal information

• The Company retains your personal information for a certain period pursuant to its internal policy and applicable laws and regulations, and, upon achieving the purpose for processing the personal information, shall destroy the information for safety purposes (see “Period of processing and retention of personal information”). Any print-out version of the personal information shall be incinerated or destroyed using a shredder, and any personal information stored in electronic files shall be destroyed in an irreversible manner using technical means.


6. When We Transfer Your Personal Information to a Third Party

• Your personal information may be transferred to an affiliate of IKEA group and/or a reliable service partner, in which case such personal information shall be transferred to the extent as agreed by your prior consent. The Company values your personal information, and shall never sell or disclose your personal information to a third party for any purpose other than specified herein.
• In some cases where it is necessary for a criminal investigation, the Company may be obliged to disclose your personal information to the judicial authority based on the legal regulations.
• Currently, the Company does not provide your personal information to any third party. If the Company commences transferring your personal information to a third party in the future, the Company shall obtain your consent in advance.


7. Delegation of Personal Information Processing

The Company delegates the processing of personal information of customers, in part or in whole, to the below delegatees, who may process your personal information for the delegated purposes.

- Fourstic Co. / Management and maintenance of a storage server for personal information relating to events held by the Company
- Fourstic Co. / Confirmation of prize winners and delivery of prizes for events held by the Company


The delegatees shall handle personal information in accordance with the scope of the delegated services, and shall not use the personal information for purposes other than that of providing these services. The Company shall manage and supervise the delegatees to prevent any loss, theft, leakage, falsification or damage of your personal information caused by the service delegation.


8. Your Rights and Obligations and How to Exercise Thereof

As a personal information principal, you have the right to exercise the following:

• You may request for (i) access to your personal information; (ii) correction or deletion of your personal information; and (iii) suspension of processing your personal information.
• A legal representative of a child under 14 may request for access, correction, deletion, processing, or suspension of processing of any personal information pertaining to the child.
• When requested as above, the Company shall confirm that the requesting party is the personal information principal or a legitimate legal representative.
• The Company may reject such a request only when there exists a justifiable reason as set forth under laws or a reason equivalent thereto.


9. How We Ensure Security of Your Personal Information

The Company manages the personal information collected from you in a safe environment. In other words, your personal information shall be safely protected from any unauthorized access, disclosure, use, modification or disposal by organizations or individuals. The Company shall ensure the safety of your personal information by taking appropriate managerial, technical or physical measures.

If you set a password to access a certain area of the Website, you should keep the password confidential and not disclose it to a third party.


10. Installation, Operation and Rejection of Cookies and Other Automatic Personal Information Collection Devices

The Company uses cookies for the Website, including but not limited to session/permanent cookies and web beacons. A cookie is a file which saves the history of a customer’s having visited this Website from his/her computer and informs the Company of the history. Cookies help the Company identify a customer’s web content preferences, adjust the Website according to customer preferences, and measure the degree of Website usage.

Once a customer accesses the Website, the Company uses cookies to provide targeted marketing services, personalized services, and so on by means such as analyzing frequency of access, visit time, tracing the customer, and obtaining information on event participation and frequency of visits.

A customer has an option to install cookies. A customer may accept all cookies, or instruct the web browser to send a notice at the time of cookie installation, or refuse to accept all cookies by adjusting the relevant function in the web browser of his/her own computer. However, in the event of refusing the installation of cookies, there may be a problem in the provision of services.
