Product details

Block-out blinds blocks light from shining through and completely darkens your room.

The blind comes pre-paired with the remote control and the signal repeater.

For the blinds wireless functions to work, the signal repeater (included in the package) needs to be plugged in to a power socket within 10 meters from the blind.

You can control your blinds wirelessly to adapt the light or create privacy depending on the activity taking place in the room.

You can use TRÅDFRI gateway and IKEA Home smart app to control your wireless blinds in different ways, set them to go up and down with a timer and create several groups of wireless blinds.

The blind is cordless for increased child safety.

BRAUNIT battery pack is the power source to your wireless roller blind.

No need to change fittings or drill new holes if you change your blinds. The wall/ceiling brackets included in the package are suitable for TRETUR, FYRTUR and KADRILJ roller blinds

FYRTURVerified BuyerWay over my expectation4
Excellent price point. All smartVerified BuyerExcellent price point. All smart products need clear commissioning instructions and access to responsive product support - I would rate 5/10 in this case. Forums were my source of support to sort out teething problems.4
Terrible Software - the opposite of Smartcreaturecomforts2 Stars because the blinds themselves are good. However, the software is appalling - buggy, inconsistent, simply not saleable. I’ve wasted hours trying to set this up and i’m not a novice. Ikea need some new coders and to fire whoever signed this off as ready for sale. It’s nowhere near.1
Size discrimination!!!DidiLondonChecked out these blinds and they look pretty good, great quality and good concept, to my surprise the sizes are a major let down, they only come in even size increments, my windows are 130cm for example as are many Victorian windows! So if you don’t have even sized windows, you’re out!! Strange when they used to sell Venetian blinds, sizes where much more universal. Maybe Ikea will become less sizest!! :-)3
Great - when they were workingKJHenleyI purchased four of these - three in the living room and one in the kitchen. One appeared to be a return as there was no remote in the packaging and it looked like it had been taped back up. No worries though, as I didn't need three remotes in one room. After the initial (usual) palaver of persuading the gateway that everything existed, all was fine and dandy. Through the Ikea app, Alexa and Apple. That was, until a month ago, one just refused to do anything. I fully charged the battery again and it worked for a couple of days. Charged again. Nothing. Reset the blind and it moved a couple of inches and, since then, has remained non functional. I've swapped batteries with the other three functioning blinds to eliminate a dud as the cause. Tried resetting it umpteen times. Basically, it doesn't work. After four months. I'd love to recommend these as, when they're working (gateway pairing aside) they're great.1
Doesn’t work with AlexaJennimhI bought this blind plus the additional ‘hub’ so that my blinds work with Alexa. You can set up routines and they should work via voice control. Unfortunately they are ‘disconnected’ 95% of the time, which means that I still have to use the remote. There seems to be no reason for it as they do work for 5% of the time. Very frustrating and a lot of money to spend - looking online it seems that many people have the same issue. The app I was instructed to download also seems completely geared towards Ikea smart lights and is very unintuitive, I can’t work it at all.1
Automatic blindsAutomatedhomeadventurerI have 3 of these blinds now and they work fantastically for me. I have only given them 4 stars due to their mounting and sizing issues. Firstly it's nearly impossible to mount them into a recess so they have to sit outside of it and secondly the size options are very limited. I would like to be able to purchase another one but my window is too large, and also these cannot be cut down to size. Mine are controlled through a Hubitat box not through the tradfri system and I believe they also work with smarthings, doing this opens these up to a full world of automation. Basically if you can get the size you need and don't mind them mounted outside a recess they are really good.4
Total eclipse!BeaneyukThis blind does exactly what it says. Blocks out all light! Fantastic! With the added extra of being ‘smart’ and able to be added to Apple HomeKit it will open & close at the sound of your voice! Magic! A bit fiddly to figure out what fittings you need which you can’t do until you open the box! But quite easy to put up once you have all the plugs & screws.4
An expensive dümbAG1212123Installing the blind was fine however getting it to recognise my network has been impossible. I have now spent 10+ hrs trying different combinations of resetting my router, the repeater, the hub, all without success. There is very little in the way of help or support available so I’ve ended up with a very expensive dümb blind1
Quiet and reliableMikeee12Fantastic blinds. I wish there wre other colours to choose from. Easy paring with the gate, I would suggest updating the guides and treat them differently than the furniture. The pictures might be slightly misleading.5
Great product but bad packagingDavittGreat product but terrible plastic packaging, not very environmentally friendly and horrible to get rid of. Every blind comes with a repeater and remote which is really silly when you are buying multiple blinds, why are these not sold separately instead !?4
Terrible product - Now left with blinds that I canTrish543I loved these blinds to begin with. But have now had them for around four months one blind stopped working a couple of weeks ago and the other now only opens halfway. I am a new man with a tiny baby and we have no light in our bedroom as we can’t open the blinds. I have tried phoning IKEA over and again to speak to someone to understand if I can reset them or what to do, but every time I phone I’m told it’s extremely high volumes of calls and after 10 to 15 minutes I can’t wait any longer. Very disappointed with the product and the service1
In short - a pile of toshSleepless SamI bought 2 and within 3 months the fabric warped significantly leaving banana shaped blinds that let light in. 'Pairing' of two blinds required the use of the repeater. This process took 30 minutes to setup successfully and failed about every month. Tiny buttons are not proud so impossible to press unless you have minute fingers. Altogether the least impressive product i have ever bought from IKEA.1
Too narrow for our windowsIkeaMHThese look great but our bedroom windows are 177cm. Are there any plans to create a wider version of these or KADRILJ?4
Easy to installDIYnfnpEasy to install, nice colour. If using on a larger window where you need two there will be a gap between them, of about an inch. Can be synced together although very hard to make the 3 blinds work at exactly the same time/ level despite hand adjustment.4
DisappointingThe old bakery kentPoor brackets. Plastic fitting that broke in fitting. Had to wait for post for new brackets. Pleased with the new ones as they were made of metal so wouldn’t have the same problem. If you want the blinds to work via wi-fi don’t bother. The app is poor. It has been updating for two days and will not connect to Alexa. Loosing all faith unfortunately.1
Good BlindShugsGreat blind and good value. The good news is that these blinds can be made narrower with a few basic tools.(See You tube). They are also compatible with smartthings if you apply the correct device handler. The bad news is that they come with a charger, repeater and charger cable so if you buy lots of these blinds, you end up with loads of spares which you dont use but have paid for5

Works with AlexadarkokiI bought 4 of these in two different sizes. Mounting holders are a bit fiddly, but once you fit them, no need to touch them. Setup and connecting to the app was painful. It took me 3 days to set them up to work properly, together with two remotes (setup to control pair each) and two signal repeaters. You can control the movement of the blinds from the app only if your mobile phone is connected to the same network as blinds. BUT: surprisingly, you can control blinds from Alexa from anywhere! Makes no sense, but works!4
Perfect and easy to fit and set upDIY NumptyI have no idea what all the negative reviews are prattling on about. Purchased a smart blackout blind from Nottingham store, got it home and it was fitted and connected and working in 15 mins. No fuss, no drama. Follow the prompts on the app and it’s rediculously straightforward. Has worked flawlessly since fitting and integrates into Google Home easily. As for the reviews moaning about they are the wrong size - well most people with a brain measure their window aperture before they make a purchase (I certainly did). Additionally the overall width extending past the fabric width is clearly quoted on IKEA’s website! Buy one (or several) - they work as advertised and miraculously are the size they say on the web page!5

Our take on polyester

Polyester is a durable, wrinkle-resistant and easy-care material that is ideal for many home furnishing products like rugs, pillows, quilts and cushions. The downside to virgin polyester is that it is made from oil, coal or natural gas. This means that when we use virgin polyester, we are exhausting the planet’s natural resources. Our response to this, is to replace all virgin polyester with recycled in our products. In 2020, we achieved the milestone of replacing 79% of the virgin polyester used in IKEA textile products and will accelerate the transformation towards the aim of only using recycled polyester throughout the product range where polyester is used.

Virgin vs recycled polyester

Originally, all polyester was made from oil-based raw materials which are not renewable but we are switching to only using recycled polyester. The good thing is that polyester can be recycled over and over, without negatively affecting the quality of our products. When we make products from recycled polyester, we give a second life to material that is not biodegradable and reduce the amount that may otherwise end up in landfill or the ocean. Instead, PET and other sources of polyester are used to make textiles, storage boxes, kitchen fronts and even lamps. Recycled polyester is just as good as virgin polyester in terms of looks, quality and function, and produces about 50% less in CO2 emissions. And the material is just as clean and safe in every way.

Some challenges with recycled polyester

Recycled polyester makes us less dependent on oil. The amount we convert, is equal to the amount of virgin fossil fuel we eliminate from our polyester raw material (this excludes potential dyeing and other post recycled polyester production treatments). With some exceptions, the challenge is not the conversion of polyester into recycled itself, but to make it available to everyone by keeping it affordable. Buying low environmental impact products often comes with a higher price tag. We want to change that by working to make recycled polyester products more affordable and accessible to the many people.

Only recycled polyester

IKEA is committed to end the dependency on virgin fossil materials and only use renewable or recycled materials by 2030. We are accelerating this movement for polyester in our range and aim to replace all virgin polyester in our textile products with recycled. In 2020, IKEA replaced 79% of the virgin polyester used in IKEA textile products with recycled polyester. In volume, this means we converted 130,000 metric tonnes of recycled polyester, and saved 200,000 tonnes of virign polyester. We haven’t reached our 100% goal yet, but we have come far and overcome many obstacles on the way. These volumes make us a leader in converting to recycled polyester and we hope that our decisions can inspire and motivate whole industries to change.

Responsible sourcing

At IKEA, we demand that all recycled polyester used in IKEA products shall come from recyclers that are compliant with the Global Recycled Standard and traceability is secured to the IKEA product through requirements toward the IKEA Suppliers. By only using recycled polyester that meets the Global Recycled Standards we manage to secure social, environmental and chemical practices at the recycler’s production. We believe that the GRS standard is the best standard on the market today. We work with our partners and textile organisations such as Textile Exchange to further improve standards on recycled materials, including traceability of material beyond the recycling units.
