It’s not white, the handleVerified ReviewerIt’s not white, the handle is stiff. Also, if you want to pull the blind down a little, it falls all the way down.2
Nice and simple to install.Verified ReviewerNice and simple to install.5
Broken after two usesVerified ReviewerWand and broken after two uses. Blind will not stay open at all. Extremely disappointed. Its an hours journey to my nearest store just to sort out shoddy goods.1
There was no screw inside,Verified ReviewerThere was no screw inside, but a seperate screw after spending over 30 pounds3
Excellent blindsVerified ReviewerGood quality, sturdy blind. 2metre wide fits window perfectly.5
Been great with 3 or 4 years constant use, shame not more colours available,Verified ReviewerHad grey for approx 3 or 4 years in 4 rooms. All work as the should and look like they did when purchased. Going to swop one put for the white one as changing colour scheme. Shame they're limited on colours though, and noticed a few poor reviews from this year. Hoping they haven't change from the original and still great long lasting jobs a good un blinds... fingers crossed5
Great valueVerified ReviewerGreat value5
blind wand has stopped workingVerified ReviewerI purchased 2 of these blinds, they look great but after one week the wand stopped working. I have to physically take the blind down to roll it up again. please could you advise, I've only had them for a week.1
Clever design, not so cleverVerified ReviewerSounds a great innovation, but a cord blind would work better. This blind worked fine for three weeks, then now it just unravels all the time and won't stay up. Gutted that I threw the receipt away once it was installed1
Fridans blindVerified ReviewerCan't understand the instructions so will be returning this. Quality looks good2
Broken after 2 weeksVerified ReviewerThe blind has been up for 2 weeks and the wand has stopped working, won't roll up or down. Very disappointed Ikea!2
Easy to installVerified ReviewerBought for my ensuite, it was easy to install, and looks smart. I like the bar for putting it up and down, much better than having a cord and a good safety feature if you have small children.5
Very happyVerified ReviewerVery happy4
What am I doing wrong ?Verified ReviewerFitted blinds as instructions but for the love of god cannot get the blind to stay in the position I want it, it either goes all the way up using the cordless bar or if I pull it all the way down It goes up on its own and stops where it wants to stop. I have no control on how much light I block out. I kept the old fixings from another IKEA blind with the cord pulley if I am going to have to resort to changing the fixings then these blinds are pointless .. It advertises as stopping wherever you want it to but this isn't the case for me ...please help as a blackout for my child's bedroom3
do not buy!Verified ReviewerNote the reviews - these blinds are cheap and block out light but that's the only positives. They are really poorly made so stop working quickly. We bought three and just over a year on, 2 of them are completely unusable. One can't go up and the other can't go down. Even the functioning blind has frayed at the edges. Having to buy brand new items so soon (ikea's guarantee only lasts a year) is not particularly eco-friendly or budget-friendly. Will be purchasing elsewhere.2
excellent qualityVerified ReviewerReally pleased with these. I’ve put two side by side for my bi fold doors. Instructions are easy to follow and work perfect if you follow the instructions. Love the rod for lowering and rising too5
Poor instructions and noisy and difficult to operate.Verified ReviewerI am very disappointed with this product. The instructions for cutting to fit the size of window were not clear - I have fitted blinds from other companies with far better instructions. The way of making the blind go up and down with the stick is noisy, very awkward and hard to control. I am going to have to buy something else from another store. thank you.1
Love this roller blindVerified ReviewerGreat blind! Easy to install, easy to open and close, blocks out the light from outside. Have bought four so far…one more to buy.5
Mechanism broke within a weekVerified ReviewerI bought this blind about 4 weeks ago. The blind itself looks good and blocks light well which is what I wanted for sleeping when working nights, however the mechanism to open/close the blind became hit or miss whether it worked during the first week and now is completely stuck in the mostly closed position. The wand mechanism seemed like a really good idea to prevent incidents with pets and dangling chains but it's pointless if I can't adjust the blind. I now have a gloomy room with about 8 inches of daylight at the bottom. Really disappointing.1
A step backwards in designVerified ReviewerI appreciate the change in the design but unfortunately it needs refinement. We have always been so happy with simple IKEA blinds in the past that we bought four of these new ones in different sizes. Trialled two and both have been nothing but trouble, one totally broken mechanism (I have to hand roll it up) and the other also doesn't work (I am duct taping the mechanism if I only want to unroll it slightly otherwise it tumbles down). Nevermind how difficult it was to actually fit into a recess! You get what you pay for, but this just broke straight away. We intend to return the other two we bought.1

Our take on polyester

Polyester is a durable, wrinkle-resistant and easy-care material that is ideal for many home furnishing products like rugs, pillows, quilts and cushions. The downside to virgin polyester is that it is made from oil, coal or natural gas. This means that when we use virgin polyester, we are exhausting the planet’s natural resources. Our response to this, is to replace all virgin polyester with recycled in our products. In 2020, we achieved the milestone of replacing 79% of the virgin polyester used in IKEA textile products and will accelerate the transformation towards the aim of only using recycled polyester throughout the product range where polyester is used.

In 2014, we got an invitation, along with other manufacturers of blinds, to meet with the Consumer Product Safety Commission – a governmental agency in the United States. They wanted to discuss how to prevent accidents with blinds that have accessible cords, and what possibilities there were to create something better. One of our Product Engineers, Bo Zhang, remembers it well. “We decided to immediately stop selling blinds with cords and only sell cordless ones.”

New solution but the same function

The decision meant some frustrated customers who wondered where the traditional blinds had gone. But it also meant that change was on the way. Bo and the team tried several different solutions until they came up with one that provided the same functionality as blinds with visible cords. “We realised we could keep the cord, but hide it,” he explains. The cord is inside a plastic rod that’s expandable and reinforced with strong glass fibre. When you pull it, you adjust the blind. “It’s safe, exact, and still at a low price,” says Bo proudly. The rod has not only been tested by our own lab, but also independent test labs. In addition, customers have checked the functionality. “By involving different people and organisations, we’ve made sure FRIDANS and the rod can meet the toughest demands – in every market,” says Bo. “The rod allows parents to create a safer environment for the youngest family members. When you live with children, that’s one important part of a better life at home,” he finishes.

Virgin vs recycled polyester

Originally, all polyester was made from oil-based raw materials which are not renewable but we are switching to only using recycled polyester. The good thing is that polyester can be recycled over and over, without negatively affecting the quality of our products. When we make products from recycled polyester, we give a second life to material that is not biodegradable and reduce the amount that may otherwise end up in landfill or the ocean. Instead, PET and other sources of polyester are used to make textiles, storage boxes, kitchen fronts and even lamps. Recycled polyester is just as good as virgin polyester in terms of looks, quality and function, and produces about 50% less in CO2 emissions. And the material is just as clean and safe in every way.

Some challenges with recycled polyester

Recycled polyester makes us less dependent on oil. The amount we convert, is equal to the amount of virgin fossil fuel we eliminate from our polyester raw material (this excludes potential dyeing and other post recycled polyester production treatments). With some exceptions, the challenge is not the conversion of polyester into recycled itself, but to make it available to everyone by keeping it affordable. Buying low environmental impact products often comes with a higher price tag. We want to change that by working to make recycled polyester products more affordable and accessible to the many people.

Only recycled polyester

IKEA is committed to end the dependency on virgin fossil materials and only use renewable or recycled materials by 2030. We are accelerating this movement for polyester in our range and aim to replace all virgin polyester in our textile products with recycled. In 2020, IKEA replaced 79% of the virgin polyester used in IKEA textile products with recycled polyester. In volume, this means we converted 130,000 metric tonnes of recycled polyester, and saved 200,000 tonnes of virign polyester. We haven’t reached our 100% goal yet, but we have come far and overcome many obstacles on the way. These volumes make us a leader in converting to recycled polyester and we hope that our decisions can inspire and motivate whole industries to change.

Responsible sourcing

At IKEA, we demand that all recycled polyester used in IKEA products shall come from recyclers that are compliant with the Global Recycled Standard and traceability is secured to the IKEA product through requirements toward the IKEA Suppliers. By only using recycled polyester that meets the Global Recycled Standards we manage to secure social, environmental and chemical practices at the recycler’s production. We believe that the GRS standard is the best standard on the market today. We work with our partners and textile organisations such as Textile Exchange to further improve standards on recycled materials, including traceability of material beyond the recycling units.
