Years on and still strong...Anonymous reviewerBought two of these blinds at the end of 2022 and have not been able to fault them once. They have worked flawlessly with the hub (bought separately when released following year) rising every morning at our set time and going down every day 15 minutes after sunset (many time options in app). Battery life is impressive, they go up and down once a day at least, occasionally more, and they've just been charged for a second time last week, so more than a year of use per charge. They have connected without any issues to remotes, app and even Alexa. Putting them up, the only fiddly bit was calibration of drop length but just because I am fussy with any light getting in, so this had to be repeated to get 5mm from window sill (timing is everything - slight delay between button pushing and motor stopping). But overall amazing blinds. I only wish we could have got two more before they were discontinued to match in the other bedroom. When stock is better we will certainly be buying more blinds.5
Smart blind Anonymous reviewerIKEA’s FYRTUR smart blackout blinds are a sleek and affordable option for home automation, offering smooth operation and effective light blocking. While installation can be tricky, the blinds integrate well with the IKEA Home Smart app and support Alexa, Google Assistant, and Apple HomeKit for voice control. The included remote is basic, but app features like scheduling and remote access make up for it. The battery life is impressive, though removing the battery for charging is slightly inconvenient. Overall, they’re a great value for those seeking functional, budget-friendly smart blinds, despite minor shortcomings.5
Fiddly to connect and drops connectionAnonymous reviewerVery temperamental in operation and drops connection to the bridge often although good wifi. Fed up with trying to repair.1
Firstly I must say IAnonymous reviewerFirstly I must say I am very pleased with the blinds. However the pairing is still not clear enough, I installed the 2 new ones, (I have 7 now) but to get them to work I had to delete them fron the app and reinstall them because the app could not find them. Fitting the 2 blinds to the windows took less them 15 minutes, pairing them took several hours. Having said that, I still recommend buying them, they are excellent blackout blinds, the battery life is excellent. The really good thing, I find, is I can open and close the blinds, even when I am away from home (Also when I am in another country) using my Alexa app. (So the house doesn't look empty). Highly recommended, especially when you are getting older! (I am 71yrs old this year) and don't have to get up to close the blinds, just click the remote or tell Alexa to close or open the blinds, all, or which ever blind you want to close or open. I am sure if you purchase these blinds you will be very pleased. Thank you IKEA.5
Fyrtur blindsAnonymous reviewerBlinds are brilliant and great value, but the app and smart home integration is extremely flakey. Once you’ve setup the blinds with the local remote and set the height etc, as soon as you pair with the base station it loses all settings and has to be setup again. It also took about 30 attempts to get the open close remote paired with the base station (ikea).4
FYRTURAnonymous reviewerWay over my expectation4
Doesn’t work with AlexaAnonymous reviewerI bought this blind plus the additional ‘hub’ so that my blinds work with Alexa. You can set up routines and they should work via voice control. Unfortunately they are ‘disconnected’ 95% of the time, which means that I still have to use the remote. There seems to be no reason for it as they do work for 5% of the time. Very frustrating and a lot of money to spend - looking online it seems that many people have the same issue. The app I was instructed to download also seems completely geared towards Ikea smart lights and is very unintuitive, I can’t work it at all.1
Total eclipse!Anonymous reviewerThis blind does exactly what it says. Blocks out all light! Fantastic! With the added extra of being ‘smart’ and able to be added to Apple HomeKit it will open & close at the sound of your voice! Magic! A bit fiddly to figure out what fittings you need which you can’t do until you open the box! But quite easy to put up once you have all the plugs & screws.4
Quiet and reliableAnonymous reviewerFantastic blinds. I wish there wre other colours to choose from. Easy paring with the gate, I would suggest updating the guides and treat them differently than the furniture. The pictures might be slightly misleading.5
In short - a pile of toshAnonymous reviewerI bought 2 and within 3 months the fabric warped significantly leaving banana shaped blinds that let light in. 'Pairing' of two blinds required the use of the repeater. This process took 30 minutes to setup successfully and failed about every month. Tiny buttons are not proud so impossible to press unless you have minute fingers. Altogether the least impressive product i have ever bought from IKEA.1
Good BlindAnonymous reviewerGreat blind and good value. The good news is that these blinds can be made narrower with a few basic tools.(See You tube). They are also compatible with smartthings if you apply the correct device handler. The bad news is that they come with a charger, repeater and charger cable so if you buy lots of these blinds, you end up with loads of spares which you dont use but have paid for5
Perfect and easy to fit and set upAnonymous reviewerI have no idea what all the negative reviews are prattling on about. Purchased a smart blackout blind from Nottingham store, got it home and it was fitted and connected and working in 15 mins. No fuss, no drama. Follow the prompts on the app and it’s rediculously straightforward. Has worked flawlessly since fitting and integrates into Google Home easily. As for the reviews moaning about they are the wrong size - well most people with a brain measure their window aperture before they make a purchase (I certainly did). Additionally the overall width extending past the fabric width is clearly quoted on IKEA’s website! Buy one (or several) - they work as advertised and miraculously are the size they say on the web page!5
Anonymous reviewertoo narrow to be really effective - needs to be 1.5inches wider1
Do not botherAnonymous revieweri would not waste your money until IKEA give better , ops i mean ANY technical support . all i can do is open & close the blinds ( if they feel like working ) i have added to my ALEXA but cannot do anything in the skills , i have contacted IKEA four times without any response.....1
Now works with Alexa!Anonymous reviewerGreat product, got this £50 off as found in bargain corner. The material feels very high quality and the blinds look so smart. In addition the blinds now work with Alexa, by using the command “Alexa set the blinds to 100%” the blinds will go down all the way.5
Good blind, smart setup painfulAnonymous reviewerThe blind itself is decent - looks good in the room, and out the box the includes remote or the buttons on the blind worked well for raising or lowering the blind. Pairing the remote to the blind, the signal repeater and the Ikea Tradfri gateway were another matter entirely. It looks numerous attempts to do, seemingly deciding to work at random. It’s a real shame, as it would totally put others off - I only stuck with it as had read about others experiences and kind of knew what to expect. It’s also worth noting that at tile of writing this, no Alexa or Homekit integration yet. The Ikea app is fairly limited in terms of automation and available info - although you can set a schedule for example, no options to automatically adjust at sunrise, sunset etc - you have to manually enter a fixed time. Also, unless I’ve missed it, no battery indicator for the blind within the app.4
Great quality, works well.Anonymous reviewerA great quality black out blind that integrates well into your smart home. Works well with the included remote, the IKEA smart home app and the Google Assistant.5
Perfect, easy set up but alexa support neededAnonymous reviewerThe physical installation is easy and I even used command strips on both of the brackets to hold in place. This removes any unnecessary drilling. Connecting the blind to the Ikea Gateway was more difficult than was needed. The only thing I really think these need now is Alexa and Homekit support, as they're only compatible with Google Home at this time. However, the remote works great - the only thing is that the remote is magnetic which magnetically attaches to a metal pad. The metal pad has an adhesive backing - however the backing does not come out far enough to be effective as the walls around the metal pad come out further than the adhesive, making it near impossible to use. I opted for the small command strips to attach to the wall (if you wish to drill the metal pad onto a wall you can do this but need to provide your own screws.) Another thing worth noting - these do not come with screws for the brackets. You must buy these separately.4
Wrong Size & Poor FunctionalityAnonymous reviewerWrong Size - Windows in my house are 115cm (w) and therefore the blind isn't the correct size to have that 'perfect' fit. I know everyone has different window sizes however from research, a standard UK sized window is 115cm. The 100cm and 120cm window would be either too small or/and too large. If Ikea brought out a 110cm version - that would be great. Before realising the width of the blind was too large, I tried to set up the blind. It should be a simple straight forward process, however it took me over an hour for the blind to notice the toggle switch and the hub. Ikea need to hire more developers to fix this issue as it will put a lot of 'non-tech savvy' people off. Extra thumbs down - HomeKit is not supported (yet).1
