Solar energy

Climate change is a reality And it's caused in no small part by energy generated by fossil fuels. We need electricity to live comfortably in our homes, but most of it is produced in power plants that use polluting fuels. More sustainable alternatives are available, but until now they have been expensive, complicated and exclusive to large-scale projects.

Wouldn't it be great if IKEA could play a leading role in making solar energy accessible to the many people?

The solution rises every morning. So, let's rise to the challenge together.

Our commitment to solar energy

To help tackle climate change, we have decided to make our operations energy independent, so that we produce as much renewable energy as we consume in 2020.

Solar power is a source of clean and renewable energy. We've already installed more than 900,000 solar panels on our stores and other buildings. But what we do is one thing. We also want to encourage our customers to contribute by providing products and solutions that allow them to live more sustainably.

One example of this is SOLSTRÅLE, our solution to make solar energy accessible to the many people.

We want to make clean energy accessible to the many people. To have a real impact, we know our offer needs to be affordable and combined with an attractive financial offer. Our home solar solution is designed to do just that. It includes roof-mounted solar panels and an easy control system that monitors production. It's an affordable solution that allows as many people as possible to generate their own power, reduce carbon emissions and save money in the process.

Coming soon in Spain

We've launched SOLSTRÅLE in eight countries. We want our solar energy solution to be available as soon as possible, and thankfully this shouldn't take long. When it comes to combatting global warming, there's no time to lose.
