This is Giane, one of the 20 girls who right now form part of the Ellas lo Bordan. She loves the idea of working here now, but a few months ago she couldn’t even thread a needle.
It has been very exciting working hand in hand with Ellas lo Bordan, and also with colleagues from different departments in the Service Office and in the Alcorcón store, where each one of has contributed our knowledge and enthusiasm to a common goal: Making the ÅTERSTÄLLA collection a reality.
ÅTERSTÄLLA is much more than a cushion cover or, in the words of the women of Ellas lo Bordan, “it is much more than a square of cloth”. This product is the livelihood of women raising children in vulnerable situations for a multitude of horrific reasons, ranging from poverty to domestic abuse.
20 women of 15 different nationalities have sewn each of the covers of this new collection one by one. Thanks to those behind these cushion covers, we are able to offer our customers a unique handmade product, giving them a chance to make a small contribution towards a fairer and more inclusive society.

ÅTERSTÄLLA collection: cushions with soul
The ÅTERSTÄLLA collection is only available in some countries, like Belgium or the Netherlands. This collection has now arrived in Spain as a result of the collaboration of IKEA with Ellas lo Bordan. Our fabrics are the raw material for creating 6 cushion covers that will be sold at our Madrid stores. Be our guest and learn everything about the project!
