Value for moneyWilliamI have bought many of these jars and they are good value for money. However, the white rubber seals discolour very quickly to a dirty yellow and you will need to replace these on a regular basis. Luckily, IKEA sells the seals separately.4

I use these jars to house my kimchi from fermenting to fridge. Works great. Easy to pop the top to "burp" aka release any pressure and I can move directly into the fridge when the kimchi has reached its desired funk.

Preserving food and all its flavour

KORKEN jars are ideal for preserving jams, pickles or other home-made treats. The aroma-tight seal helps to lock in flavour. And since the jars are made of glass, you can easily see what’s inside, increasing the chance food gets eaten and not thrown away.

Material

What is glass?

Glass is mainly made of sand, soda and lime melted at a high temperature. Tempering or various additives gives you extra-strong and impact-resistant glass that in some cases can be taken straight from freezer to oven without cracking. A big benefit is how glass can be recycled over and over without the quality deteriorating. Also, a lot less energy is needed to melt recycled glass compared to new raw materials. Our goal is to eventually use only recycled glass in our range.
