Home storage ideas for sports equipment

If you play sports, you’ll know that sports equipment can take up a lot of space in the home, comes in unusual shapes and sizes and isn’t always the most attractive thing to look at. Here we have some ideas to help you find the best way to store it at home. It’ll be more organised and ready for use making it easier for you to stay in shape. Let’s go!

1. A (small) home gym with a locker room

You don’t need a whole room to create a gym at home. Even the smallest unused corner can be transformed into a fully functional space to store your sports equipment and work out. We’ve fitted ours out with the following:

  • Two red cabinets, one above the other, to give it that gym locker room feel. They’re the perfect place to store clothing and equipment, all in perfect order.
  • A pegboard where, thanks to its various accessories, you can hang a vast array of items. Use the hooks to store away yoga or pilates mats and resistance bands, and place any electronic devices you need for training in the small tray. And for that finishing touch, add some exercise charts and a wall clock to help you keep track of time.
  • A shelf on the pegboard to put extra equipment that you don’t use so much, but that may come in useful in your fitness area.
  • A step stool to sit on while you get ready, take a break or climb up to reach any sports equipment stored higher up.
  • A seagrass basket (100% renewable material) to store extra accessories such as towels.

Want to keep your gym area out of sight? Why not hide it with a curtain that suits the decor of the room?

2. Everything to hand at the front door for heading out

If your family likes to play out on the street, whether it’s riding a bike, skateboarding, playing tennis or having a game of football, and you’re always running around searching for things, the front door can be the perfect place to store your sports accessories. We have used a combination of elements to achieve this.

First, a cupboard for storing anything you don’t need to have at hand or that you want to keep out of sight because they’re not the most attractive. Then hangers and hooks that allow you to hang items such as scooters, helmets, racquets and certain pieces of clothing. For extra storage, add a bin with a lid where you can store balls or any other sports equipment. And finally, a shoe rack to put your shoes on before you go out the door.

The result, as you see, is a perfectly organised hallway that will save you a few minutes every time you leave the house. Best of all, this is just one example of everything you can do using our organisation and storage accessories. So why not completely customise it to meet your needs?

3. An organised adventure area

If your family practically lives outdoors, you’re bound to have plenty of equipment to show for it. We recommend that you install a modular storage system in the garage or loft. The one we’ve used has sections that can easily be customised for each member of the family with shelves, baskets, boxes and more. You can even adjust the height of the shelves and rails so that children can reach their things easily.

This solution gives you enough room for larger sports gear such as ski equipment or golf bags, as well as smaller items such as badminton racquets or table tennis bats. Plus you’ll have room for clothes, shoes and accessories such as helmets, all perfectly organised and ready for your next adventure!
