We often overlook the potential of some areas of the home, as is the case with the hallway. But this space can become the perfect ally to store and have everything we need for our everyday lives at hand, like jackets, some shoes, bike helmets, etc.

And although we don't always have a lot of space, nothing is impossible for our organisation and storage solutions. That's why today we're going to show you some ideas to turn your hallway into a super-practical and functional area. You can incorporate one idea, all of them or even create something new from these inspirational tips. Read on to see them all.

A customised hallway: a system of rails and pegboards

For children, choosing what to keep in and out of their reach changes over time. A pegboard is perfect for this as it allows us to organise and adjust accessories and clothes to the height of all the members of the family.

A pegboard is perfect for creating the exact combination of hooks that we want and organising their layout. And because it's adjustable, it doesn't have to stay that way forever – we can change it as often as we need to. Also, it's much more convenient and affordable than a hallway cabinet, especially if you have a small space.

Our SKÅDIS pegboard has many add-ons so that you can hook and hang any type of object. You can also integrate it into an ALGOT clothing system (both in white), which you can combine with the pegboard, some high shelves and even some baskets on the bottom, perfect for storing helmets, hats or any other accessory. Using this solution, you can create a customised, adaptable and very practical hallway.

Use accessories that help you

Sometimes the objects we always want to have close by in the hallway are all different sizes, and that makes them more complicated to organise. Therefore, the most practical thing is to add accessories that suit each type and allow you to keep everything in order, as we've discussed before in the case of the baskets and hooks.

You can use objects that are not actually intended for a hallway. For example, in the picture below see how we've placed a towel rail to store all the objects in this little nook that are put to one side and run the risk of slipping down, like the bat and the hoop. You could also store parasols and kites there. You can do whatever you want!

And if the smallest members of the house can't leave home without their favourite toys, why not keep them ready in a box? What's more, because it has wheels it's easier to move from one place to another, either to the garden, the local park or their cousins' house.

The two basic pieces for a simple hallway

If you don't want to complicate things with an installation like the one we showed you at the start, but a piece of furniture isn't possible either, you can go for something much simpler, as shown below.

This idea is just to have one rail for hanging coats and jackets and a wardrobe organiser for smaller items, such as gloves. Each person can have a different compartment so that there's no confusion and everyone always has their own little space. And when you don't need it any more, boom! You fold it away and store it without it taking up any space.

By the way, did you know that using add-ons like the RASSLA wardrobe organiser can save up to 5.5 hours of your life per year?

If saving time is a priority for you we're sure that you'll be interested in the next article and will want to take our test on how much time you waste at home looking for things. Take a look, you'll be amazed at the result!

The solution for dead corners

If you have an empty gap at your entryway or simply can't get around to installing rails and hooks on the wall, one option to still have a practical hallway is a NIKKEBY. With this, you keep everything on one object, with shelves for shoes and rails at different levels to put hangers on.

You can always hang extra hooks behind this for items like bike locks or umbrellas. We've opted for the BJÄRNUM folding hooks, which can be folded up and won't hook onto anything when they aren't needed.

Protect your wall

If the umbrella an essential accessory for your hallway during autumn and winter, we would advise protecting the wall from blows, damp and general dirt. It's also the perfect excuse to decorate the hallway.

In this case, we've used a LYSEKIL wall panel, which is intended for the kitchen but works perfectly well for this new function. It's resistant to heat, water, fat and dirt, but what we like most is that in addition to the protection, it's very elegant and gives a touch of joy and style to our walls.

What did you think? You can certainly make your hallway a much more practical and organised space with some of these tips. The whole family will be very happy with their coat rack!
