Support for smart IKEA products

Smart products from IKEA are designed to be long-lasting. They are made of durable materials that are heavily tested in our labs. The longer you use your products, the better it is for the planet.

 

Use your IKEA smart home products, they are built to last

We have designed them to work even without an Internet connection and without the need for a remote server. This means that you can continue to use your smart products with your DIRIGERA hub or TRÅDFRI gateway linked to the IKEA Home smart app for as long as they last.

When your DIRIGERA hub or TRÅDFRI gateway connect to the Internet, their software will be updated with new features. However, there are certain practical limitations to the capabilities of the electronics in our products, and we want our products to work as well as possible. For that reason, we apply the following policy when it comes to providing digital updates and patches. 

DIRIGERA hub and TRÅDFRI gateway 

They have a three-year warranty from purchase to ensure that the hub and the gateway:

  • Work with the IKEA Home smart app.
  • Get security updates.
  • Get updates to ensure compatibility with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. 

 

Smart products from IKEA (including SYMFONISK speakers) 

We offer support on smart products from IKEA up to five years after purchase, if paired with DIRIGERA HUB or TRÅDFRI gateway to ensure that your smart products from IKEA: 

  • Work with applicable IKEA Home smart app.
  • Get security updates.

What are products from IKEA marked with the label 'Works with IKEA Home smart app'?

These are IKEA smart products that can be controlled with corresponding app if paired with DIRIGERA hub or TRÅDFRI gateway. View the current range of IKEA smart home products .

Will my smart products still work after the end of support?

Sure! You can continue to use your smart products from IKEA even after our software is no longer supported. For example, you will still be able to turn off and on your lights, put your blinds up and down and use the hub/gateway on your local network even without an internet connection.

IKEA will offer you support through our Customer Centre. Also, please consult the information available on ikea.com if you have any questions or if you need help with your smart products.

How does DIRIGERA hub and TRÅDFRI gateway work?

  • The DIRIGERA hub and TRÅDFRI gateway are designed to be connected to the Internet. They receive software updates directly from IKEA when connected to a router with internet access.
  • IKEA intends to continue to support DIRIGERA hub and TRÅDFRI gateway with required security updates as well as maintaining compatibility with our online services and the latest version of our IKEA Home smart app for a minimum of three years from the date of your purchase.
  • After three years, IKEA may choose to continue to provide software updates and/or compatibility with online services and/or mobile applications. 

How do smart products labelled “Works with IKEA Home smart app” (including SYMFONISK speakers) get updates? 

  • These smart products receive software updates directly from IKEA when paired with the DIRGERA hub or TRÅDFRI gateway with internet access, as does the IKEA Home smart app. Meanwhile, SYMFONISK speakers receive updates directly from Sonos.
  • We will offer support on these smart products for at least five years after purchase. If you have a TRÅDFRI gateway and your smart products no longer work with it, you can use them with your remote controls and if you wish switch to DIRIGERA hub.
