As isKellyGood product that has good functionality4
Amazing!JonathanAmazing, relatively easy to assemble compared to other bends! Only "not that good" thing is that the objects you put below on the corners (so it doesn't damage your floor) allow the bed to move everywhere - I move a lot while asleep, and every night I put the bed in the middle of the bedroom, and I always wake up next to any of the walls (which are quite far from the middle where it is originally located)5
Be careful with the confusing diagramsVivian L.Solid frame. Assembly is definitely a 3 or 4 person job. But the instruction manual can be confusing - there are steps in there that should've been put *prior* to where they are shown on the list of steps (such as the round metal inserts in the large holes in the side panels). You'll have to read the manual one or two steps ahead for this reason. Also, for the removable drawers in particular, you'll have to be careful with the diagrams and the exact side of the wooden panel you're screwing in, because it can be confusing. The bottom panel of the drawers has almost identical screw holes on both sides, but you're only supposed to screw on the panel facing one particular side, and the only way to differentiate the two sides are a couple of almost-imperceptible tiny screw holes. Why even put screw holes on the other "wrong" side of the panel if that's the case? They serve absolutely no function but to confuse. We had to go back and dismantle two constructed drawers because of this.3
It is a sturdy, goodFranciscoIt is a sturdy, good looking bed. The under-bed storage bins are great. Assembly is challenging for a single person but the instructions recommend it is a 2-person job. The mattress bed rails protrude a bit on each side of the bed and since mine is covered with a duvet I did walk into it a couple of times, but it is a minor detail. I would recommend it,4

Broke all my expectations.Anjali S.This bed is so weird, Moves every time you sit or take turn while lying on it. Tried to fix it, did not work. I know there is a return policy on it but is it worth it??? You buy the bed, assemble it but it moves and creaks. So you dissemble it and assemble again, no benefit. So again dissemble it and return it. Looks like that is the only thing left in my life. My husband has not slept well since we get it.Ikea has many good products but this bed is not one of them. Don’t get this bed. Big nooo…….1

Luroy Slat Base Makes This a Mediocre ProductNoumanBought this in King and the suggested slatted base (Luroy). I have to lift the mattress every few days and reseat the slats because they keep shifting out of place. Have never had a problem with any of the other beds I’ve owned - just seems like a bad combo. Searching online suggests it’s a common issue and people suggest using wood glue to glue the slats to the bed. Not what anybody wants to do.2
Lovely bed, clean lines and very solidMICHELLEWe just switched over to a king bed and chose the malm with the drawer storage underneath. Great buy and the drawers are huge. The bed itself is quite beautiful with very clean lines and super solid construction. One comment on the instructions for assembly. If you are not used to putting Ikea furniture together it would be nice if the instructions were in colour or had some kind of written description to avoid confusion during some parts of the assembly.5

Easy storage and solidChristinaI am very happy with my recent purchase of the MALM bedframe. It was easy to assemble and I love the 4 drawers storage. I don't have a huge bedroom, so the storage is very appreciated. I love the richness of the colour, brown black was the better option to match our furniture and easy to clean.5

👍SupandeepWell it is really good . My husband installed it and easy to follow instructions that it comes with.5
Value for moneyArjun K.I see why MALM is so popular and hard to get a hold of. I couldn't get my first color option of the beige/light brown so I decided to purchase the white one instead. Definitely recommend getting it with storage boxes. They just need to keep up with the demand and increase their stocks5

Our take on wood

Wood is the material most commonly associated with IKEA furniture, and for good reasons. It’s renewable, recyclable, durable, ages beautifully and it is an important part of our Scandinavian design heritage. At IKEA we believe that sourced in a responsible way, wood is a key change driver for climate mitigation. In 2012, we set a goal that by 2020 our wood would be from more sustainable sources. We are happy to announce that we have reached this goal and today, more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

Forests are critical for life on earth

Forests contribute to maintaining balance in the atmosphere, purify the air that we breathe and are part of the water cycle. They nourish wildlife biodiversity and provide homes for indigenous communities who depend on forests for their livelihoods. 90% of plant and animal species living on the planet need forests to survive. They provide sources of food, fuel, timber and many other ecosystem services that we rely upon. Sourcing approximately 19 million m3 of roundwood per year from some 50 countries, IKEA has a significant impact on the world’s forests and the timber industry and a huge responsibility to positively influence how wood is sourced. Responsible wood sourcing and forest management ensure that the needs of people dependent on forests are met, that businesses can work sustainably, that forest ecosystems are protected and biodiversity is enhanced.

100% wood from more sustainable sources

At IKEA, we work with strict industry standards to promote responsible forestry. We don’t allow any wood in our supply chain from forest areas that are illegal or contain high conservation values or from forest areas with social conflict. Before starting to work with IKEA, suppliers must demonstrate that they meet IKEA critical requirements on wood sourcing. IKEA requires all suppliers to source wood from more sustainable sources (FSC-certified or recycled wood). All suppliers are audited regularly and non-compliant suppliers are required to implement immediate corrective actions. By working together with our suppliers, we are proud to announce that we have reached our more sustainable sources goal, which we set out to achieve by 2020. Today more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030

As pressure on the world’s forests and the surrounding eco-systems increases due to unsustainable agriculture, the expansion of infrastructure and illegal logging, it is time to take an even more holistic approach to protect and support these important resources for generations to come. The IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030 set out to improve forest management, enhance biodiversity, mitigate climate change and support the rights and needs of people who depend on forests across the whole supply chain and drive innovation to use wood in even smarter ways. The agenda focuses on three key areas: • Making responsible forest management the norm across the world. • Halting deforestation and reforesting degraded landscapes. • Driving innovation to use wood in smarter ways by designing all products from the very beginning to be reused, refurbished, remanufactured, and eventually recycled.

We accomplish more by working together

For many years, IKEA has partnered with businesses, governments, social groups and non-governmental organisations to fight forest degradation and deforestation and increase the volume and availability of wood from responsibly managed forests both for our own supply chain and beyond. We are on a journey to improve global forest management and make responsible wood sourcing the industry standard, contributing to building resilient forest landscapes and improve biodiversity.

What is veneer?

A veneer is a thin wooden sheet fixed on things like particleboards to add a durable surface and a natural wood look – so we enjoy the many benefits of wood without using solid wood. The most common veneer types are birch, ash, oak and beech and we’ve made a special UV lacquer that helps preserve the wood's natural structure. A benefit with a slightly thicker veneer is how you can repair and sand the surface if it’s damaged to give furniture a longer and more beautiful life.
