If you choose to shop through the IKEA app, you can use a debit/credit card (AMEX, MasterCard or VISA), Apple Pay, PayPal, Multibanco reference, IKEA gift or return card, or even an IKEA Family credit card.

When am I entitled to ask for a VAT refund and what do I need to do to get it?

If you are purchasing goods in an IKEA store you are entitled to claim a VAT refund when you are either:

  • You have a national taxpayer identification number with a permit to ship goods to other countries/territories (outside the EU).
  • You are a customer residing in non-EU countries or territories – export procedure
  • You are resident in another country/territory, and you will be taking your purchases with you.
  • You are a customer resident in an EU country and operating a business in another member state and have a tax number registered in the VIES system.

For VAT refunds arising from a purchase in IKEA stores, you must send us proof of the Export Certificate (CCE) or the DAU (Exit Certificate for Shippers/Exporters), whatever the case might be, certified by the competent authorities, (if you use the forwarding agent registered with IKEA, you will not need to worry about this documentation), as well as the IBAN bank information to which your VAT refund should be sent to.

Customers resident in another EU country should put the goods delivery address on the invoice, in the “delivery address” field, and present a letter confirming the delivery of the goods and the tax number.

When applicable, the sending of certificates and a copy of the original invoice must be sent via email to PTIKEABusiness@ingka.ikea.com

If you take the goods with you as onboard luggage, you'll have to ask for a Tax-Free form. Once the documentation has been validated, IKEA will issue the corresponding form. Online purchases can also benefit from Tax Free, for this you just need to present the invoice on the same day of purchase and ask for the issue of the corresponding Tax-Free form at an IKEA store (the information included in the invoice must be the information to be included in the Tax-Free form).

How can I get a copy of my invoice?

You can get a duplicate of your invoice in different ways.

If it is an invoice/receipt for a purchase made in one of our stores, and that has been associated with your IKEA Family card, it may be available in your purchase history, in digital format. This format is valid for IKEA purposes, such as returns.

If it is an invoice for an order placed in our online store, or by phone, it will have been sent to the email address associated with the order. If you need our help, please contact us. To find the invoice you want, information such as date, amount, taxpayer number and store will be required.
