The IKEA job application process is like putting together a Billy bookcase, step by step

We're glad to see that you're interested. Not sure how to continue? Don’t worry. Here, we'll show you how to apply for a job to join the growing team of IKEA co-workers.

You'll also find lots of tips to help you throughout the whole process.

You're six steps away from your next job

1. Search and apply for a job

Found a job that you like? Brilliant, now it's time to present your application. First, visit the job portal and create your profile. Don't forget to upload your CV. A cover letter will also give you the opportunity to introduce yourself and explain your motivation. We're really interested in what makes you special. Go for it!

2. Vetting prior to selection

Our recruitment staff will go through all the applications and then, depending on the job that you apply for, they may ask you to complete a brief assessment. We'll try to respond to you as soon as possible.

3. Getting to know you

We know that you are much more than just your CV, that's why we would like to get to know you. At the end of the day, we hire people, not CVs. We will contact you through a phone call or you'll complete an interview through pre-recorded video. This is followed by a face-to-face interview or an online interview with a person responsible for recruitment or your possible future manager.

4. Interview

You're almost there so breath, because it's gone well so far. At this point, we would like to meet with you again. We work with various types of interviews, but you will typically have an individual job interview with your future manager at one of our locations or online. Take this opportunity to share what motivates you and ask questions about your future job. Remember that it's totally fine to feel nervous. It just shows that the job is important to you.

5. Offer

Congratulations! We've made our decision, so now it's time for you to make yours. We will contact you and explain the job offer to you. You will also receive the offer in writing so that you can read it and make a decision, taking all the information into consideration. Naturally, we hope that you'll accept. When we make an offer, we make a commitment to equal pay. We guarantee that we will offer fair pay based on your experience and qualifications. This means that we may ask you about your salary expectations, but we won't ask you about your previous salary. At this stage, we will carry out the necessary background checks and verify references.

6. Onboarding

Once you've accepted the offer, we will provide you with access to our pre-onboarding portal so that you have more information about IKEA's brand and business, your new team and other useful information. Everything you need to prepare yourself for your first day as an IKEA co-worker.
