Sustainability at IKEA Murcia
The planet is our household and it needs us more than ever. But a household has always been what we make of it. At IKEA we want to help millions of people live a better day-to-day life while respecting as much as possible the resources that the planet offers us.
Social projects
Since part of the environment is the people who live in it, we have created various social projects to improve the daily lives of everybody.
IKEA Alliance
We have joined forces with Murcia City Council and five associations in the region to create an employability project for vulnerable groups. Since the start of the project, we have trained more than 100 young people in different areas such as logistics, catering and sales.
Spinning Fine
Spinning Fine is a sewing workshop that provides employment for people at risk of social exclusion or vulnerable situations. In collaboration with FEYCSA, we designed this space to offer our clients a sewing and embroidery service.
Training rooms
We have renovated spaces that facilitate educational experiences for young people in vulnerable situations. We have collaborated with some of the region's associations such as CEPAIM and Astrade.
Our energy efforts
Renewable energy
At IKEA Murcia we are committed to renewable energy, which is why we have more than 2,400 solar panels on the store's roof. Currently, 100% of the electricity we consume is renewable and 27% is generated in our own system.
When it comes to fighting global warming, we have no time to waste.
Positive impact on the climate
Water and energy have become very precious commodities, and we need everybody to take care of them and make the most of them. Every day we strive to consume less water and energy with small actions. All our light bulbs are LED, all our taps have aerators that maintain the right flow of water and we use dual-flush cisterns in all our bathrooms.
Spinning Fine
The 'Spinning Fine' sewing workshop is an initiative that seeks to contribute to the labour insertion of people at risk of social exclusion.

At IKEA Murcia we are committed to a new concept of social entrepreneurship , creating a clothing workshop for the development and job insertion of people in situations of social vulnerability.
In this space you can enjoy the following services, knowing that, in addition to receiving a quality product, you will be promoting a positive economy and helping local communities.
