How to have a workspace in the bedroom
Integrating a workspace into the bedroom may seem a bit contradictory. How can you mix the functionality and energy that a desk should transmit without disturbing the relaxing and restful vibe you need in the bedroom? As always, the decor will be your greatest ally in maintaining harmony in this room. Follow these tips and you'll see how simple it is.

Here's the challenge: a place to concentrate and be motivated to work in a room that, by its very nature, is for rest and disconnection. An impossible combination? You'll see why it's not!
Although having a separate room to comfortably work from is ideal for all homes, it's not always possible.
However, don't get too worked up, because by combining the appropriate materials and colours, you can create a perfect (or nearly perfect) 2-in-1 space. To show you how, here's an example of the beautiful home of an artist and illustrator.
Don't worry if you don't have as much space as what you see here. Remember that what's important is how all elements, colours and textures mix together. So size is not what matters most (though it always helps).
A casual yet functional feel
One of the most important things when integrating a desk into the bedroom is to not lose sight of the functionality of objects or their design. Why does design matter? Very simple: if you display objects that contrast too much with the bedroom environment, you run the risk of clashing settings or the space you sleep in feeling like an office.
So it's recommended to give some small personal touches to your work area. For example, beautiful vases or mugs converted into holders, a wooden box to store small objects or a metal basket for notebooks. You can use anything. You can also make the best of this situation by decorating the walls with paintings, images or illustrations that will inspire and motivate you.

Don't use a typical work chair
Keeping in mind its initial purpose, it's really recommended that you look for an office chair that's slightly non-traditional (and follows the tones of the bedroom). But be careful! Whether you'll spend lots of time in the chair or very little, it must always be comfortable enough to support your back. Style is key, but health matter most. For example, Margo opted for a FJÄLLBERGET. "My chair is really comfortable and fits in with our bedroom decor too", she says.
Strive for light and clarity
Natural light always provides extra warmth and makes the ambience much more cosy. So whenever you can, put your work table right in front of the window. Here, using white furniture too, it seems like there is more light. Don't forget to add a lamp to illuminate the specific area where you work when you don't have enough artificial or natural light. Margo draws lots of inspiration from looking out the window: "I love to see the seasons change as I work."
