Cooking with IKEA: quick recipe for home-made tiramisu

Dessert recipes don't have to be complicated. In fact, today we're bringing you the perfect example of how to prepare a home-made treat quickly and easily. We decided to venture into one of the most popular Italian desserts in existence. Any idea what it might be?

Today at #CookingWithIKEA, we're going to learn how to make home-made tiramisu with delicious oatmeal biscuits. Would you like to prepare it with us? Let us explain how. Let's go!

Meet the chef

For this tasty recipe, we're going to count on a veteran of #CookingWithIKEA dishes. Anyone come to mind? Óscar Gandarillas is back as our chef to teach us how to make a quick home-made tiramisu step by step!

We've already been delighted with his previous recipes: salmon in orange sauce, herring salad and let's not forget his latest creation, ramen with meatballs

If this is your first time at #CookingWithIKEA, you should know a little bit more about Oscar's story to trust him as much as we do.

You see, this chef has been passionate about cooking since he was very young and has been a part of the IKEA Family for more than 15 years. In addition, Óscar has extensive experience, having studied Hospitality and Catering and working for many years in the kitchens of various traditional Spanish restaurants in Cantabria and Biscay. He has also worked at various catering establishments.

Shall we have a look at his recommendations? Read on and jot down all his tips and tricks to prepare tiramisu like a professional chef.

Making the tiramisu

Let's start by preparing the cream for the tiramisu.

  • Pour the whipping cream into a bowl and partially whip it with a whisk.
  • Chef's tip: to whip the cream more easily, make sure that both the bowl and the cream are as cold as possible.
  • Add the sugar and continue whisking.
  • Now it's time to add the mascarpone
  • Stir until the texture is creamy.
  • Set aside to chill. You can do this for 10 minutes in the freezer or 30 minutes in the fridge.

In the meantime, let's move onto the last step. Yes, you read that correctly. There's only one thing left to prepare and that's the oatmeal biscuits.

  • Using a glass container (not too big, something like a food storage container), pour in a cup of coffee that you've brewed previously.
  • Dip the oatmeal biscuits in it for a few seconds so that they soak up the liquid, then remove them.

Plating

Tiramisu is based, first and foremost, on layering and, for a perfect finish, Óscar recommends that we layer it as follows. Take note:

  • In a cup or glass, assemble the ingredients in the same manner for each guest.
  • Layers: start with a layer of biscuit, followed by a layer of cream. You can use a piping bag for this step. Repeat the process until the glass is full. The last layer should be cream.
  • Mix the cocoa and coffee powder and sprinkle it on top of the cream for garnish. We've done this with a salt shaker to make it easier.

And that's it! Enjoy an easy and delicious dessert in just a few minutes.
