As the time of the Three Kings’ visit approaches, we often worry about what to give our children, especially the youngest ones. And it becomes more and more difficult to find the solution because we live in an age where they have everything, and where toys are designed with the latest technology and ever more realistic functionality. But what about imagination? Classic toys help them develop abilities such as concentration and creativity. That is why we offer a range of traditional toys that make perfect gifts for the youngest children in your home this Christmas.

Role-playing toys for children

Children have always enjoyed playing at being pirates, cooks, astronauts, their favourite cartoon character, etc. Come on, let’s live another life for a while!

Toys that encourage these role-playing games are excellent for stretching children’s imagination and developing their ability to play alone or with others. The DUKTIG play kitchen has been a perennial favourite at IKEA, and to be honest, we’re not surprised. Boys and girls can play at being real chefs and prepare delicious meals, because everything down to the last detail in this little kitchen seems authentic.

Invest in toys that encourage creativity and enjoyment by using that most powerful tool: a child’s imagination!

To encourage logical thought and psychomotor skills

The MULA toy series is not only colourful and fun: it is also full of little secrets for your child to discover. This series is perfect for learning to recognise colours and shapes with the blocks, developing psychomotor skills with the toy hammer, or using the toddle truck to develop balance.

These types of toys encourage your child to experiment and learn logical thinking and psychomotor skills. They seem like very simple toys, but they are anything but.

Quality toys that last a lifetime.

The vast majority of classic toys are made of wood, a robust material that ensures they last for many years. The other advantage of these wooden toys is that in addition to their value as playthings, they are also decorative and can enhance the appearance of a room.

The LILLABO toys, for example, combine toy cars with puzzle games. They encourage the development of the imagination through role play and help develop creativity as the children make up their own games.

However, this can sometimes happen when we least expect it: a simple wooden box with wheels can be transformed into a car to for the cuddly toys, a stool becomes a stage on which the dolls perform a little play, etc. Imagination is a wonderful thing!

Drawing is one of the best forms of play for a child.

What child doesn’t love to draw? Drawing is one of the most fun and complete activities for every age, from when they are really still babies until they’re ready to move on. It is for all ages!

In addition, drawing helps to:

• build children’s self-esteem
•channel their emotions
•improve their ability to concentrate
•develop their imagination
•improve their handwriting
•develop their personality

A durable blackboard will provide them with somewhere to create their small (or great) works of art. The MÅLA easel has a black surface on one side and a white surface on the other, so that they have a choice, or so that two children can use it at once without bickering.

We love it when our customers use our products creatively. You can be bold too! However, you should bear in mind that any changes and modifications you make to IKEA products will prevent them being resold or used for their original purpose and therefore such changes will invalidate your IKEA commercial warranty - and your right to return the item.
