5 recipes for a perfect barbecue with a twist
We love barbecues! Even better are barbecues that deviate from the classic recipes and go one step further to turn them into a true outdoor culinary experience. If you agree, check out these ideas for your next barbecue.
When we think of a barbecue, several dishes come to mind right away, like kebabs, sausages and bacon, right? However, the options for cooking on the grill are much more varied and delicious. So if you want to surprise your guests this time, we’ve got several barbecue recipes that will have them licking their fingers.
And don’t worry, just because they’re more original doesn’t mean that they’re more complicated. In fact, as you’ll see, in many cases it just means putting a special twist on some classic dishes to make them more special. All hands on deck!
1. Chicken thighs glazed with pineapple and barbecue sauce
Ingredients:
- 10 chicken thighs
- 1 pineapple
- 6–7 tablespoons barbecue sauce
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon brown sugar
- Piquillo peppers
Method:
- Wash the chicken thighs and pat them dry.
- Mix the barbecue sauce with the soy sauce and brown sugar in a bowl.
- Cover the thighs in the sauce and leave in the fridge for half an hour.
- Just before cooking, slice the pineapple and wash the peppers.
- Take everything to the barbecue and cook until done.
2. Colourful burgers
Ingredients:
- Beef or chicken burgers
- Hamburger buns
- 1 large red or lombardy cabbage
- 3 or 4 large avocados
- Cherry tomatoes
- 2 or 3 green onions
- 1 or 2 lemons
- Black pepper
- Salt
- Condiments (ketchup, mustard etc.)
Method:
- Cook the burgers on the grill.
- Chop the onion into julienne strips and cook on the grill as well.
- Wash the red cabbage and cut it into short strips.
- Peel the avocados and cut them into small slices.
- Season with lemon, pepper and salt.
- Halve the cherry tomatoes.
- When the meat and onion are ready, assemble the burgers: add a bed of red cabbage, avocado, the burger, the cherry tomatoes and the onion.
- Let your guests top it off with their favourite condiments.
3. Fish kebabs marinated with lemon dill sauce
Ingredients:
- 3 firm fish pieces per kebab (monkfish, halibut, tuna etc.)
- ½ lemon per skewer
- Our lemon dill sauce
- Chives
- Black pepper
- Salt
Method:
- Ask the fishmonger to cut the fish for you to make kebabs.
- Wash the fish.
- Put the sauce in a bowl and leave the fish pieces to marinate for 2 hours in the fridge.
- Chop the lemons.
- Place three fish pieces and three lemon wedges alternately on each kebab.

Season to taste and garnish with chives.
- Cook the kebabs on the grill on both sides until golden brown.
4. Vegan burritos
Ingredients:
- Vegan sausages
- Wheat tortillas
- Assorted greens
- 2 or 3 large avocados
- 2 red onions
- Extra virgin olive oil
- Black pepper
- Salt
Method:
- Cook the sausages on the grill.
- When they’re almost done, put the tortillas on the grill as well to toast them.
- Peel the avocados and slice them.
- Wash the greens and chop the onion.
- Mix all the vegetables in a bowl and season to taste with olive oil, pepper and salt.
- Assemble the vegan burritos. You can leave the sausages whole or chop them.
5. Mustard salmon with artichokes
Ingredients:
- 6 salmon fillets
- 100 ml. extra virgin olive oil
- 2 lemons
- 2 tablespoons granulated mustard
- Black pepper
- Salt
- Artichokes
Method:
- Squeeze the two lemons.
- Prepare a bowl with the oil, onion, lemon juice, mustard, pepper and salt.
- Put the salmon fillets in the bowl, cover it with plastic wrap and let marinate for a minimum of two hours in the fridge.
- Shortly before cooking, split the artichokes and salt and pepper them.
- Take everything to the barbecue and cook until done.
