Jot down your favourites!
1. Easter crafting
First up, we have a fun and really entertaining plan for the little ones in your home. And if there's anything that this time of year is known for, it's the explosion of colours, so there's nothing like an afternoon ofcrafting and drawing to have a great time. Grown-ups can get involved as well!
An original idea could be drawing, painting and cutting out Easter eggs to decorate the house. Everybody can make their own and put it wherever they like in the house. For example, you could attach it to a stick (made from a bit of cardboard or even a lollipop stick) and place it in a pot to decorate your plants. They'll be beautiful and very festive!
Need more ideas? Fab! Why not paint the shells of some real eggs? There are loads of different ways you can do this, like with special sprays, felt-tips or acrylic paint.
2. Making traditional Easter dishes
If there's a perfect way of spending Easter at home, it's without doubt by enjoying delicious homemade food. Make the most of the holiday to cook stress-free and without a schedule and savour the most classic Easter dishes.
At this time, the most popular recipes are for desserts or traditional sweets like delicious torrijas, spongy buñuelos or yummy pestiños… Your mouth's watering, isn't it?
Although you'll be indulging in a little treat with the sweets, we want the holiday, when you have the most free time, to be an opportunity for you to eat better and in less of a rush. So, get the recipe book out and fill up on some culinary classics without sacrificing healthiness.
3. A picnic on the terrace
Do you have a terrace or another outdoor space? Make the most of it! Among other things, spring lets us enjoy those days when the sun shines bright but the heat is not uncomfortable. So, what could be better than going out on the balcony or terrace for a little picnic?
If you like this idea, we recommend sprucing the space up a bit first, so get out there and decorate the terrace. Give it a good clean to get rid of all the dust and dirt and put in everything you need: a folding table, cushions to sit or lie on… whatever you want! Once it's ready, it'll be the perfect spot to enjoy a different day in the fresh air, but with all the comfort of your home.
Don't have a space for a picnic, or the weather's just bad? We love creativity, so we don't see why you can't have an indoor picnic. To give it a different feel, clear the lounge and add some accessories, most importantly soft furnishings. Some cushions here, some blankets there and… voilà! You have a picnic.
4. Family activities
We've already talked a bit about some crafting ideas to do in your free time this Easter, but how about a game to go along with them? All our games have a theme. The aim? To make you feel like you're on holiday.
The game we want to tell you about is called 'Easter egg hunt' and, as the name suggests, the aim of the game is to search the entire house for an Easter egg that's been hidden. There are loads of ways to play, but we suggest this:
Draw a simple map of the house as if it were a treasure map and devise a route that goes from room to room until you find the Easter egg. You can set tests and challenges between them, like a riddle, to make the game last a little longer and the adventure even more fun. The grand prize could be anything that the kids like, but in this case we've chosen a bag brimming with delicious chocolate eggs. You'll all have a great time!
5. A round of board games
You're never too old to enjoy a great afternoon of board games. And there are games to suit all tastes and ages. Some are more dynamic, others are more traditional, and that means that there's always something we can spend hours of fun doing with friends or family. So, we don't want to miss this opportunity to encourage you to put down your phone or tablet and have fun with these brilliantly entertaining games. Are you up for it?
6. Crack on with your to-do list
It might not sound like the most fun plan for an Easter at home, but these days off are the perfect chance to crack on with those little things that are always waiting to be done but we can never find the right time. Although you'll have to dedicate some time to doing them, you'll feel really satisfied afterwards because there's nothing better than having your whole list of chores crossed out and the peace of mind that comes with it.
What might be on the infamous list of "things I want to do but never get round to"? For example, the first thing that leaps to mind is a big clean – one of those that we do over time but that is oh so necessary; or organising things like shelves, drawers or the Tupperware cupboard… But it doesn't just have to be organising and cleaning. You'll definitely have more fun things to do like finishing off that photo album or looking through the files on your computer and sorting them.
7. Wardrobe change
The Spanish have a pearl of wisdom when it comes to clothes: "hasta el cuarenta de mayo, no te quites el sayo" ("Ne'er cast a clout till May be out" – basically, keep your winter clothes until summer has actually arrived). But we can start to pack our thickest winter clothes away and get those between-season clothes out.
So, the aim of this idea is a bit like the one before: to sort out the things that we know we're going to have to do sooner or later. If you start with a small seasonal transition in your wardrobe, you'll have less washing and packing away to do later and you'll have a better idea of what clothes you have for the incoming season.
Remember! Don't put away the blankets and long-sleeved clothing just yet. There are still some cooler days to come.
8. Get some exercise
We mustn't forget our good habits, so we suggest doing a bit of exercise at home, especially if you don't have much time to do it in your normal day-to-day routine.
You don't need loads of equipment, as this year has really taught us. Preparing the living room by clearing the furniture will be more than enough. And if you have a terrace, even better!
Our special recommendation is not to do workouts that are too complex or long, especially if you're not used to it. Adapt the exercises to your level and put them into a workout totalling 20–30 minutes. Just a little bit will leave you feeling fantastic, believe us. That well-earned shower is so satisfying, too!
9. Spa experience at home
Speaking of showers… What if we turn our post-workout shower into a self-care session?
Put some relaxing music on in the background and make this time much more special. That doesn't mean spending the whole time under the water, though. Remember that water needs to be used responsibly. But you can add some little touches before and after your shower, like playing some relaxing music, putting on a special hair mask, or even some face products.
10. Do nothing
How about having no plans for Easter? Sounds great! Don't get us wrong, we wouldn't want you to spend every day on the sofa, but we do think it's totally fine to treat yourself to a day of absolute freedom. Rest is really important too.
In fact, we shouldn't feel guilty about not having the energy to do things around the clock. Sometimes, it's better to take a day, an afternoon or a few hours to do very little, or at least plan to.
