Ideas for organising the laundry room

When we say "laundry room", we don't only mean rooms solely dedicated to laundry. It could be a storage room, the ironing room or that kitchen corner where the washing machine and iron are, or where you hang clothes. In this space, it feels like there's never enough room to hang all the washing or categorise all the containers that we need. So, we recommend that you take note of our ideas for organising the laundry room and get the most out of it with our storage products for small spaces.

Say yes to vertical storage

Any corner can be put to great use to get a little more out of your space. If the space is too small to do it horizontally… Why not do it vertically?

We suggest a vertical solution like BOAXEL in this part of the house. It can make life easier and help you to make the most of the space you have. This really flexible system has all the functions you need to wash and hang the laundry, without any hassle.

Want a tip to save ironing time? Add a rail to the top to dry clothes on hangers — that way they crease less!

Get rid of visual noise with boxes, jars and shelves

As we've said previously, this area usually shares the same space as bigger areas like the kitchen or bathroom. That's why we think it's vital to keep different products and accessories in order.

So, where possible, we'd recommend adding several fairly deep shelves up to the ceiling so that you can make the most of space that would otherwise be wasted.

Additionally, transparent boxes let you see where everything is and make the space look bigger than it would if you used opaque ones. A few tips for organising this space:

  1. All toxic and chemical products for washing and cleaning should be on high shelves, out of reach of children.
  2. For smaller items such as scissors or pins, try using smaller jars and boxes to store them in an orderly fashion. You can place them all inside a bigger box, but make sure it's out of reach of the little ones.
  3. Towels and products that you use daily can be kept to hand on lower shelves. You can forgo boxes for these things, so you can grab them quickly.

How to define a laundry space

Our idea was to make a really functional and useful corner in the bathroom, so we've defined this area with some simple sliding doors. It's unbelievable that everything we've seen (and more) fits into this little space, isn't it?

Of course, if you don't have space for all this, you can pick and choose any of these ideas and put it in any room where you have your laundry space: they're versatile solutions that are right at home in any wardrobe or on any wall in the house.

We'd also like to highlight the SKÅDIS pegboard (it's above the washing machine and in our first photo). Despite its small size, it's really functional because you can personalise it to your taste with different hooks or mini shelves, depending on what you want to put on it.
