How to organise your wardrobe in five steps

Let’s break it down. Organising a wardrobe is a real art form but it’s one that you can learn. Thank goodness! If you’re looking to organise a small wardrobe or one of our handy corner wardrobes, these five tips will help you to achieve the neat and tidy wardrobe of your dreams — be it small, large or corner. And best of all, it will look fantastic, even if you decide to opt for a walk-in wardrobe, with or without a door. We promise.

Step one. Sort out your clothes once and for all

It’s something you’ll need to do thoroughly and with all your clothes. No half measures: it might take more than a day but the sooner you do it the sooner you’ll reap the benefits. And you’ll feel more motivated. So grab all the clothes that you have in wardrobes, chests of drawers, boxes etc. and sort them by type: underwear, trousers, skirts, bed linen etc.

Step two. Get rid of the clothes that you don’t wear

This is a basic but vital step: you need to reduce and get rid of the clothes that you don’t wear. Make three piles, for example: trousers that you want to keep, trousers that you want to throw away and a third pile of trousers that you think need to be mended.

Step three. Organise your wardrobe

Three key things that you should keep in mind when organising a wardrobe:

  1. Design your wardrobe using PAX wardrobe interior solutions and KOMPLEMENT accessories based on what kind of clothes you wear. Are you a shoe lover or more of an accessories person?
  2. Store the clothes you wear less in less accessible places.
  3. Group your clothes by colour, from darker to lighter.

Step four. Make use of all the resources available to you

Organising your wardrobe is much easier if you use clothing boxes and some handy hangers. They’ll help you to keep all your clothes visible and tidy. If you’re wondering how best to store bags or tidy shoes, clothes organisers might be the solution for you.

Step five. Give your drawers a helping hand

Use organisers for smaller clothing, such as underwear, dividers to keep everything in sight and boxes and baskets for accessories. We explain everything in this video “Quick guide to sorting your drawers
