What exactly is a Swap Party?
These are really popular in countries like the United Kingdom, where they've being going on for years. It's one of the best ways of giving a second life to clothes without spending a single euro. It involves swapping garments with your friends, neighbours or even people from your local area. You can make it as big as you want. If you decide to hold it at home, arrange a get-together with your most fashionable friends, ones with taste similar to yours, or those who've got the most clothes they want to get rid of. Set the rules for what is and isn't allowed – for example, everyone has to bring a set number of garments that aren't accessories, underwear or children's clothes – and define what kind of garments they should bring. That jacket you haven't worn for years, or those boots you liked so much but you're now bored of, might be perfect for someone else. Also try to make sure that all the guests are a similar size so that everyone has the same chance of making a swap.
Where to hold it
Spending time with friends is always a good time. Add new clothes to take home, an aperitif and cocktails into the mix, and it turns into a great one! Get your house ready for them: clear some areas to put the clothes so you can see them all easily, whether that's hanging on a rail or displayed on a sofa or table. Create a space for people to try clothes on, whether it's a room or even just a room divider or curtain for privacy. Establish a turns system for "purchases" so there's no arguing You can draw names using a mobile app or pick numbers at random. Prepare some food and drink to make it an even better time: salmon rolls, crackers or something sweet depending on the time of day or what you like best. If you want to invite a lot of people but don't want the budget to get out of hand, you can ask your guests to bring whatever they want to eat or drink.

A home photoshoot can be an intimate way of letting our creativity flow, safe from the prying eyes of strangers on the street. We've got some ideas for you to make the most of your space: look for a monochrome background or, if you don't have one, make one using cardboard or a smooth fabric.
