Five original ideas for wrapping your Christmas gifts

Every Christmas, we try to surprise our loved ones with the best gifts, whether it's on 25 December, the Epiphany or for Secret Santa. And although what's inside is the most important thing, the presentation also counts, a lot! Especially this year, as you might not be able to give some of your gifts in person and may have to send them by post. That's why we encourage you to outdo yourself and take the time to create special wrapping that speaks for itself, and conveys how important that person is to you and how much you would like to share that moment with them. What do you think? Here are several original and affordable gift wrapping ideas for presents that stand out!

1. Gift bags or envelopes

This is the fastest and most practical method, ideal for when you don't have enough time to deal with wrapping paper or, simply, when crafts aren't your forte. Just choose a design you like and the right size to fit your Christmas gift. You'll save time and money without sacrificing originality.

Our tip: tags are always a great accessory to finish off gifts and an original yet elegant way to add the name of the recipient. If you feel like it, you can even include a small card with a few words you want to share with that person. Tie them up with coloured ribbon or a thin piece of cord and admire how lovely it looks!

And if you're not sold on any of the designs, create your own gift envelope. It's impossible to get anything more unique and personal!

2. Fabric gift wrap

There are a thousand different ways to wrap a Christmas gift. Why not try to swap paper for some beautiful fabric?  Get inspired by the Japanese furoshiki tradition and wrap your next gift using this technique. It's very easy. It traditionally involves a quadrangular piece of cloth, such as a handkerchief or towel, which has been used for years to transport objects from one place to another. Silk is usually the fabric of choice but you can opt for whatever you like most.

It's perfect not only because of how lovely it looks and how many different knots and ties you can make, but also because you can reuse it again and again. This cloth can also be part of the gift itself.

As it has a function beyond that of wrapping, it will be much more sustainable for the environment. What do you think? In the photo, we used a natural jute cloth from our VINTER collection but you can do this with whatever fabric you like most.

3. Gifts with their own lights

If there is one thing that everyone loves during the holiday season, it's the charm of the lights and the cheerful atmosphere that they create. So, this time, we're going to add them to your Christmas gift.

Wind a string of LED lights around some natural gift wrap in the shape of a cross. It's a great, low-cost way to give it that magical touch, as LED string lights are a fairly affordable option. To hide the battery box, place some little pine branches and a tag on top. It will create such a special effect!

As with the fabric, the lights will be part of the gift itself as they can be hung wherever the recipient likes once they have unwrapped their gift. So, every time they turn them on, they'll be sure to remember you and how great your gift was. If you want to make a great impression, now you know how...

4. Wrap gifts in containers

This is another sustainable alternative to the traditional use of wrapping paper, plus one of the options that helps you save the most. You can take advantage of any clean container that you have lying around and reuse it in the best way possible. Glass jars, cork boxes, bamboo boxes… Any option could work!

But how do you add that unique touch? Once you've placed your Christmas gift inside, simply wrap it with some pretty string, add some details like dry twigs or even paint some of the sections.

You can also add a tag that shows the name of the recipient. The best thing is that once they take out the gift, they can use this original packaging to store whatever they want.

5. Tins never go out of style

Some gifts have the formula for success and withstand any trend – that's the case with tin boxes.  These pretty tins are another alternative to paper and, like other ideas we have seen, they will save you time and money and be useful in the future as they can be reused for many things. In this case, we've filled them with delicious Christmas sweets. Irresistible!
