Two styles of decor to welcome in the autumn

We have the latest trends in autumn decor! Interior Designer Linda Åhman explains how simple it is to add on-trend touches to your home for the new season in two different styles. Let's take a look at them...

When we talk about redecorating, we usually think about a drastic change that will need a lot of time and money. However, this doesn't have to be the case. It is possible to change the style of a house's decor by using small accessories or detailsthat give the rooms a completely fresh look.  And that is precisely what Linda Åhman shows us in her suggestions. Both have a completely different style, but they work very well against different backgrounds.

1. Pastel hues decor

Do you like pastel colours? This style revolves around the softness and comfort they bring to the space. To achieve this, the interior designer has chosen different home accessories in comforting textures such as velvet and linen.

The best thing about this colour scheme is that it goes very well with almost everything (white, wood, grey...), so you can use what you already have as your base and make a change by adding simple items that aren't too expensive and that you can easily add to your home decor. Cushion covers and other textiles, table lamps or vases are the perfect items to achieve this.

So what you'll need to do is take a look at the current style of your decor and spot the details you can include so that pastel hues become the main feature of the room. You'll see how much fun it is!

To show us that it is easier than it looks, Interior Designer, Linda Åhman has applied this process to a white cabinet. If you have something similar or in another neutral tone, you can easily do this at home.

Firstly, remove everything in the cabinet that doesn't match the colour scheme you want to make the main feature of the room, such as books in dark or bold tones. And don't worry, you don't need to find another cabinet to put them in, you can organise them into white boxes like the ones in the photo.

Books and decorative pieces that are in neutral tones can be left on display. These will become the basis of the new details you use to achieve that softness you are looking for. To do this, our interior designer has only used two pink vases. What do you think of the end result?

2. Neutral decor with bold accents

If you're looking for a more powerful and personality-filled decor, this option is for you! Dare to be unique and create a home that's truly yours. Our interior designer starts with a neutral base, like the light coloured furniture you already have at home, and gives it more personality with some vibrant pillows and mixed print black and white accessories. To stand out even more, combine organic shapes and ceramic details in lighter tones.

Although you may think you need to make big changes, this look has been achieved through the pieces you see in the photo: textiles and small decorative accessories. The rest is about trying different combinations and using a little imagination.

A fantastic way to show-off your personality is to fill a display cabinet with your most precious treasures, as if it were an exhibition. Linda Åhman suggests grouping different objects in different shapes and sizes to create a visual spectacle.

As you see in the photo, with four or five pieces you'll be surprised at the great results you can achieve that are both elegant and totally different from the norm.

You have to think of yourself as an artist with a blank canvas. You can adapt what you already have to your style and taste".
