A rustic combination for your vegetables
When we see the bright, vivid colours of vegetables on our plate, we're automatically transported to good weather, summer and our Mediterranean diet in all its grandeur.
That's why we believe that a nice way to present a colourful salad or plate of vegetables like this, is to do so in a rustic way, dressing the table with natural materials. Here, we've gone for ceramic plates that are simply stunning, in a light colour that puts the food in centre stage. They're also very durable!
We have also chosen rustic cutlery, and wood and linen accessories in natural tones for napkins and the table runner. It looks beautiful!
As for the dish itself, remember to use the main ingredient as a base and place whatever you have less of on top. So, let's say you're adding a few slices of mango to your salad, add them in at the end and you're all set to add texture and top the dish off with a pop of colour.
A classic table in blue tones
Blue is the perfect colour to dress a table in almost any season. Choosing dark blue dishes makes all the primary colours pop so your food looks fresh and delicious, like this vegetable skewer. Meanwhile, the classic tablecloth in soft blue tones creates a lovely, welcoming feeling.
We have garnished the vegetable skewer with a citrus yoghurt dressing and bean sprouts. Remember to present these sides and sauces in bowls that continue the table's colour scheme, whether clear or in neutral tones, to bring everything together nicely.
How to dress a table for eating sushi
Whether you're making homemade sushi or getting takeaway and eating at home, you can't just eat it any old way! Here are a few simple tips on how to set the table for sushi (and do it right!):
- The first and most important thing is that you must use wooden chopsticks, never traditional cutlery! The chopsticks allow you to eat all kinds of sushi properly, without destroying the various pieces.
- To dress the table, use individual place mats or table runners in natural materials like this, which is made from water hyacinth.
- Use small bowls for sauces and sides.
- Use materials like wood, ceramics and even slate to present your sushi and any other foods.
And enjoy! Sushi is a very healthy meal that we can eat from time to time with no worries.
Different colours and shapes to bring a simple meal to life
Lastly, here's a more special idea. What makes it special? Well, the combination of shapes and pastel colours, which we're obsessed with.
We've set the table to eat a simple fruit and vegetable salad with a dressing and fruit juice. And we've done so with a neutral, white table runner. The dishes range from grey, pink, white and blue, all in pastel shades, which create a harmonious yet joyful touch.
But, without a doubt, what this table teaches us most is that combining different geometric shapes in our tableware is always a success.
Move away from conventional ways of serving your salads and healthy meals and present them as something truly special.
