Tips for organising and storing Christmas gifts

Clean out wardrobe clutter

This year, Christmas presents will surely be more focused on practicality. Our loved ones are likely to gift us items that we can use in our day-to-day lives and, above all, contribute towards our self-care. For example, one of your gifts may be a new garment to bundle up in and stay warm this winter.

With this in mind, you'll only need to make a bit of room in the wardrobe if you haven't already done so between seasons. We're sure that you have clothes that you haven't worn in ages — why not use the space they take up for what may come in the future or just to have a bit more room? Remember, you don't necessarily need to throw them away; you can always recycle them or, if they're in good shape, donate them — there's surely more than one family that will be thankful, especially this year.

Once you've gotten rid of what you don't need or what doesn't spark joy (as the well-known organiser Marie Kondo would do with her famous method), the next step to free up and take advantage of your space at home – and, therefore, have space for any Christmas gifts you receive – is to organise your drawers or wardrobes to increase their storage capacity.
