How to make the most of your walls to create more space at home

This is one of the best ways to store and organise things at home, and yet we still haven't made the most out of it. That's why we've compiled some of the best examples, so you can discover all the ways you can use the walls in your home.

If you live in a small flat or simply need more storage space and don't want to spend a fortune, don't forget about what your walls can do for you. You'll see just how practical they are.

Let's take a peek!

More space in a small kitchen

If your kitchen isn't particularly large, this method of storage and organisation could be the perfect solution to make your kitchen truly functional, even if it's small.

Sometimes, some kitchens don't even have the basic essentials of enough cabinet space. Therefore, here's our first tip for making the most of your walls: if you have high ceilings or empty recesses, you can vertically amplify this storage space with some wall units and extra kitchen cabinets

Storage systems for organising your kitchen

Not sure which kitchen cabinets to choose to make the most of your wall? What if, instead, we create a structure so that everything is within reach and on display?

We have what are known as kitchen wall organisers that, in addition to reinventing the traditional pantry, are the perfect solution for freeing up counter space and other kitchen furniture.

In this case, we have opted for KUNGSFORS rails, as their adjustable shelves allow us to adapt the space to our needs. Just look how much you can store!

Store things in your living room without encroaching on space

We altered our room to show you another example of how helpful making the most of your wall space can be when organising your home. Let's go straight to the living room.

Who are we trying to kid? The TV bench is too small to store everything that ends up in this room, even if we add some extra shelves. The living room is one of those rooms that ends up full of all sorts: children's toys, those vintage vases you fell in love with, your extensive collection of books and books you still haven't finished... And we all know you're not going to get rid of everything.

Well, in this case, your walls are once again your best friend, as they provide the perfect space for storing all those bits and bobs, and doing so in style no less. And nothing beats a combination of bookcases and shelves. If you're looking for a safe bet, BILLY is one of our favourite all-rounders because, in addition to being affordable, its shelves are adjustable so you can set the size of each gap. Did you know that this product is largely made from renewable materials?

Working remotely or studying at a functional, motivating desk

With a dash of ingenuity, you can make the most of your walls to create really useful spaces, such as an area where you can work from home or study. Even if this area is inside the living room itself.

By using the entire wall of this living room, we have a flexible, cosy space to accommodate different activities, such as work, recreation or study. How?

It's as simple as surrounding your desk with wall shelves and other storage solutions. This allows us to clear the table and make this area conducive to concentration and productivity, in addition to obtaining extra space to store books and notebooks (as we have done in the middle gap between the shelves) in an organised, beautiful fashion.

Speaking of beauty, what if we use the top part for something a bit more decorative? Put your favourite paintings and photos there to turn this functional space into one that motivates and inspires you with all your ideas.

Wall solutions for children's bedrooms

Don't focus too much on the dimensions of this room but rather on the variety of solutions that you can put on the wall to store and organise your children's things. Keeping our kids' bedrooms tidy is a never-ending challenge.

If you want bags more room space and for everything to be a bit more organised, you can choose from these options:

  • Shelves: very useful for storing larger toys. If you like, you can hide them inside pretty boxes with lids or baskets.
  • Pegboards: perfect for hanging the school timetable, daily tasks and even storing smaller items in hanging boxes and whatever else you want to have near your desk.
  • Wall shelves: open-fronted, your children will have no trouble finding their favourite book. It's also the perfect accessory, not only for stories but also for hanging their drawings and artwork.
  • Children's coat racks: fun, colourful and very useful for hanging items such as backpacks when they get home from school, jackets, skipping ropes when they come in from playing outside, or necklaces and accessories.
  • Children's wall lamps: although not storage, this will save you space if you don't have anywhere to put a reading lamp or night light. What do you think?

Turn your wall into the perfect wardrobe

This is our 'magic' solution for storing clothes. The spell is quite simple and is pronounced BOAXEL. This system can be used both to create your own walk-in wardrobe and adapt the space where you store your clothes in boxes from season to season. It is a structure composed of mesh baskets, shelves and bars. Its layout is fully changeable, meaning that you can design it according to your needs, so you'll have room for both your shoes and for bulkier coats.

As an extra trick, make the most of the space from the top of your BOAXEL to the ceiling and hang some shelves. It will be the perfect place for whatever you want to store in organiser boxes and clothes bags.

An ideal system for the laundry room

Which other room would a great system like the one in the example above be an absolute must? That's right, the laundry room.

You must have thought more than once about how to organise and put an end to the chaos of your washing and ironing room once and for all: dirty clothes, clean clothes, white washes, colour washes, pegs, towels, a section for underwear... An absolute mess!

Well, thanks to our modular wall systems, not only can you organise everything perfectly but you can also make it easier to do your chores and save time so you have more time for doing the things you love. This time, we've used the BOAXEL structure formed by two sections, one of which has the perfect space for fitting around your washing machine. It even has a built-in drying rack so you can air-dry whatever you need to.

What do you think about all these solutions your walls can offer you? If you liked them, don't miss these other ideas for making the most out of every corner of your home.
