Did you know that decorating with rugs is a great way to dress up the house in winter and keep your home warm? That's why we couldn't resist preparing a selection of our best rugs so that you can choose one that best suits your home, all for a very affordable price (under EUR 60)!

Discover all the benefits of affordable, sustainable and purposeful textiles. Keep reading to find out more!

1. A large rug to decorate and save money

As we've already seen, rugs aren't just for decorating a house to make it beautiful; they're also a great technique to insulate it from the outside cold and maintain an ideal temperature inside. By keeping the room warmer, you can directly reduce energy consumption and therefore save on heating. Doesn't that sound wonderful? And all that while you decorate!

In keeping with a budget of up to EUR 60, let's start with one of our most affordable options: TIPHEDE, a large rug (120x180 cm) made from recycled cotton. And all of our rugs are crafted in a much more environmentally responsible way. In fact, all the cotton in our products comes from sustainable sources, i.e. it is recycled or grown using less water, pesticides and fertilisers.

TIPHEDE is perfect for all types of floors, even if they have radiant heating. And what we like most is that it's very easy to maintain. Did you like this first example? Then keep reading — we have even more…

2. Affordable, sustainable rugs with a social purpose

Beyond the advantages we've mentioned, we'd also like to mention the purpose behind our handmade rugs. They have a very important bonus, as they work towards social improvement. Here's how.

Since 2010, we have undertaken the initiative of regulating and improving the working conditions of rug weavers in India and Bangladesh. In this way, we ensure that they have fair and safe employment while still obtaining a quality, artisanal product.

In line with this purpose, and within this list of the best IKEA rugs under EUR 60, we'd like to move on to MELHOLT, an affordable, sustainable and artisanal rug.

It is made of dark wool and jute, and as it's a handmade rug with natural colour variations in the material, the final design of each rug is unique and special. No two rugs are the same! If you're also looking for a tough and durable rug, MELHOLT is perfect for you. And it's recyclable!

3. Warm and soft rugs for added comfort

If you're looking for a rug where you can spend hours and hours wiggling your toes in its plush texture, you'll love our next candidate.

STENLILLE is a low-pile rug that provides a soft, plush and comfortable texture for your feet. As it's thicker than the ones we've mentioned above, it offers other advantages including increased noise dampening. In this case, the rug is made of synthetic fibres (polypropylene, a potentially recyclable plastic), and is therefore highly stain resistant, durable and easy to maintain.

Easy-to-recycle plastics such as PET, PE and PP are some of the most widely used in IKEA products, and we strive to ensure that they all strictly comply with legal and safety regulations. Today, one third of our plastic items already comes from renewable and/or recycled sources. However, by 2030, we want to go further. That's why, our goal is to have all plastics used in our products meet this requirement, so that we can have a positive impact on people and the planet. What do you think?

4. Round rugs for smaller spaces

Looking for a small rug, but with an original touch that's different to a standard rectangular rug? Round rugs are perfect for dressing up the house with textiles without taking up lots of space. Have a look!

In this example, we’ve chosen STOENSE, a great low-pile choice that fits any space, from underneath the coffee table in the living room to the foot of your bed. Its slight sheen creates colour variations, providing a warm and cosy texture.

If you want something a bit smaller, then this design will delight you. RISGÅRDE is a super-affordable and practical option. Because it's a small rug, it can easily be vacuumed (or even thrown in the wash) and placed in almost any room in your home (provided there is no humidity, of course).

This rug is also very special. Care to guess why? It's made of polyester from recycled plastic bottles, which has enabled us to decrease our consumption of new raw materials and reduce our environmental impact. All while ensuring the same quality and safety as any other rug. Hooray!

5. Long rugs for corridors and narrow areas

There are areas around the home that can be especially complicated to decorate or dress up, such as corridors or the entry. But we're here to show you that there's a solution for everything! That's why, on this list of the best affordable rugs, we'd be remiss not to include some recommendations to end this dilemma once and for all.

We'll start with the most colourful and affordable solution. RAKLEV is a multicoloured rug that's handmade with jute, a material that's great if you want your rug to withstand anything, especially a busy area like a corridor. And with its wool thread, you get a modern, sharp and totally original rug.

If you prefer something less "flashy", we have other options, like this last one to finish off the list. LOHALS is our natural, neutral-toned rug, which will bring a little calm and serenity to any space. It's also made of jute, so it's quite durable.

As you can see in the picture, there's something just under the rug. It's one of our anti-slip rug underlays (STOPP). When laying a rug down at home, it's best to fix it to the floor to prevent it from moving and people from slipping. That's why, no matter which rug you buy, you must remember to secure it. Doing so will also make it easier to vacuum.

What did you think? Enliven and dress up your home with one of our rugs. You'll fill your home with style, savings and added value, with the knowledge that you're contributing to fair working conditions for their creators.
