Ratings and reviews

Installs easily and works wellMeaganVery easy to install, works well with the switches. Haven't hooked it up to wifi yet. Only bummer, is the blinds are not offered in wider sizes.5
Great but could have been better.GyorgyThe Ikea blinds are great and cost efficient solution. Installation is a breeze, but set up is a nightmare. However once it's setup, it works as expected. I gave it four stars as it is a pain to charge the batteries. There is no charging option while the batteries are installed, meaning you have to climb up to remove the battery and charge it. Then climb up again to put it back. Of course while the battery is charging your blinds do not work at all. The blinds would have been perfect if they were equipped with a charging port and a wired option. Also it would have been great if they offered different color/fabric options. However if you like a better quality fabric on these blinds, replacing it is not difficult. Would love if the remote control came in a standard "light switch" format so it would blend with all your other switches, and you could install it on the wall. Overall it is a good product.4
So awesomeCherylA little pricey, but worth it. We attached the remotes to the side of our night stands, just one click of a button you can decide if you want light or darkness. Which they came in more sizes and colours.5
These blinds are unobtrusive andmichelleThese blinds are unobtrusive and work wonderfully! Easy to install, although no screws were in the packages? We have the 3 blinds paired and they go up/down at the same time seamlessly!5
Wish it workedNinaInstallation was easy however the remote would not connect with my blinds so the only way for me to roll up and down my blinds is to get on a stool and press the button at the top of the blinds. However it does perform well in the sense that it does black out the room.3
Surprisingly costly for something surprisingly cheap.IanUnsure why these are so expensive. Guessing it comes down to supply and demand. They're OK. They work, they were easy enough to install, but dang they're fugly. HUGE casing where the mechanism is housed, and a massive distance between the casing and where the blind 'begins' means you will need to make your Fyrtur larger than your window space by a fair margin. Also, unless you want a large gap between blinds, you can not use multiple Fyrtur on the same window.2
Blinds are great but theChrisBlinds are great but the pairing process if you have trouble with the blinds is very frustrating, what should be seconds to pair can take many many many attempts. Recommendation is to buy the TRADFRI gateway which made the pairing work better and also then updated the firmware for the blinds and remotes.5
The future of blindsMikeIntegrates really well with smart home devices. Once you can say "Alexa, open the blinds", you'll never want to touch them again.4
Great valueLukaszprovides great value and gets the job done. unfortunately the roller isn't covered and it doesn't have nicest appearance.4
The BestMaggieExcellent! Completely dark, so nice to sleep in.5
easy to install and love the functionalityEDWINAbought these to install in family room and have automated scheduled operation. It works brilliantly! Very easy to install, integrating the blinds with app was a little challenging as it required multiple attempts but in the end it all works seemlessly with the app as well with my google mini5
not happyROGERtry to pair too gateway now remote does not work and will not pair3
Great when it worksPATRICKStill finalizing the installation but most difficult or unreliable part as expected is the remote - it has its own mind about when it will trigger the blind to go up or down. It shouldn't be this difficult.4
Poor instruction manualalanSpending half day to pair up the units but unsuccessful. Almost going to return them until I found a video from Youtube . I was told to click the paring button on the remote with FOUR TIMES. All instructions did not mention this, just tell you to push and hold!!!!!2
Complicated and rigid and ambiguousHarveyComplicated and rigid and ambiguous software.3
ExcellentSEANI've bought a number of these at different sizes for various windows throughout the house. The app and hub are a little wonky and you may have to go through multiple set-ups if you're unlucky, but ultimately the tech is reliable, and integration with Amazon Echo is perfect. Highly recommended!5
Great, I wish they came even wider.Jason M.We've had ours for a few weeks now and they are great. It's nice to have the blinds close and provide some privacy during the evening. We have the blinds open all day now and get better use out of our space with natural light. It would be nice if they came in more sizes. I have a 64" window, and the last thing I want is a big gap between two blinds for a bedroom. I don't mind it in the living room where I don't sleep.5
Perfect Automated Window Blind!Neil H.I purchase the grey 48" x 76" FYRTUR unit from the Etobicoke, Ontario store. I also purchased the TRADFRI unit with it as well. It installed VERY EASILY (no issues at all) and we absolutely love it. Installation was probably 25x minutes from the time I setup the chair to stand-on (not recommended), to removing the previous/old blind to mountaining the new unit. I did plug the battery in to charge overnight before I installed it. We are so happy with the FYRTUR unit, we are going to go back and buy a second unit. I will also connect our unit to Amazon Alexa in the coming weeks. I think the *only* downside to this unit is the price. The price at $260CDN is a bit high, but I really don't have a lot of issues with the price. Yes, it could be lower, but it's decent for what you get.5
Worth every pennyAgathaWe bought this to put up in our kitchen window. Easy to install and program. Blocks out light better than I imagined! Would definitely recommend it to others!5
Exactly what I wanted!MatthewVery easy to install. App works well on android, I love being able to set set schedule based on sunset (+/-X minutes). I usually just use my Google home to control them if I want them up or down off schedule so didn't even install the switch.5

Our take on polyester

Polyester is a durable, wrinkle-resistant and easy-care material that is ideal for many home furnishing products like rugs, pillows, quilts and cushions. The downside to virgin polyester is that it is made from oil, coal or natural gas. This means that when we use virgin polyester, we are exhausting the planet’s natural resources. Our response to this, is to replace all virgin polyester with recycled in our products. In 2020, we achieved the milestone of replacing 79% of the virgin polyester used in IKEA textile products and will accelerate the transformation towards the aim of only using recycled polyester throughout the product range where polyester is used.

Virgin vs recycled polyester

Originally, all polyester was made from oil-based raw materials which are not renewable but we are switching to only using recycled polyester. The good thing is that polyester can be recycled over and over, without negatively affecting the quality of our products. When we make products from recycled polyester, we give a second life to material that is not biodegradable and reduce the amount that may otherwise end up in landfill or the ocean. Instead, PET and other sources of polyester are used to make textiles, storage boxes, kitchen fronts and even lamps. Recycled polyester is just as good as virgin polyester in terms of looks, quality and function, and produces about 50% less in CO2 emissions. And the material is just as clean and safe in every way.

Some challenges with recycled polyester

Recycled polyester makes us less dependent on oil. The amount we convert, is equal to the amount of virgin fossil fuel we eliminate from our polyester raw material (this excludes potential dyeing and other post recycled polyester production treatments). With some exceptions, the challenge is not the conversion of polyester into recycled itself, but to make it available to everyone by keeping it affordable. Buying low environmental impact products often comes with a higher price tag. We want to change that by working to make recycled polyester products more affordable and accessible to the many people.

Only recycled polyester

IKEA is committed to end the dependency on virgin fossil materials and only use renewable or recycled materials by 2030. We are accelerating this movement for polyester in our range and aim to replace all virgin polyester in our textile products with recycled. In 2020, IKEA replaced 79% of the virgin polyester used in IKEA textile products with recycled polyester. In volume, this means we converted 130,000 metric tonnes of recycled polyester, and saved 200,000 tonnes of virign polyester. We haven’t reached our 100% goal yet, but we have come far and overcome many obstacles on the way. These volumes make us a leader in converting to recycled polyester and we hope that our decisions can inspire and motivate whole industries to change.

Responsible sourcing

At IKEA, we demand that all recycled polyester used in IKEA products shall come from recyclers that are compliant with the Global Recycled Standard and traceability is secured to the IKEA product through requirements toward the IKEA Suppliers. By only using recycled polyester that meets the Global Recycled Standards we manage to secure social, environmental and chemical practices at the recycler’s production. We believe that the GRS standard is the best standard on the market today. We work with our partners and textile organizations such as Textile Exchange to further improve standards on recycled materials, including traceability of material beyond the recycling units.
