DisappointedCatherineI love the idea of this blind but unfortunately it doesn't seem to work well. The first one lasted about a year and the replacement lasted 1 night.2
Easy to install and operate but…TimI bought various size to cover all the windows, they are easy to install and love the handle operated rolling mechanism, except for the narrower size, it rolls up shifted to one side and jamming the roller due to the lighter material.4
BlindLorenaBlackout roller blind work's very well, I have 3 of them, 2 were bought 3 years ago.5
Worst Blind Design I've Ever Bought – Failed Before One SummerJimenaI am extremely disappointed with this IKEA blackout blind. It didn't even last through a single summer before becoming unusable. The pulley mechanism used to raise and lower the blind is terribly designed. From day one, it never worked properly. Lowering or raising the blind required excessive force, and over time that force damaged my wall. A blackout blind should operate smoothly, not feel like a constant struggle. What makes this even more frustrating is that there was no alternative option available when I purchased it. I trusted IKEA to provide a functional product, but this blind has been nothing but a headache. The blackout fabric itself is irrelevant when the operating system is this bad. A blind that can't be used properly is a failed product. Poor design, poor durability, and a completely unacceptable pulley system. I would not recommend this to anyone2
Great productAdrianaWe needed to replace old Ikea blind so we got again the full black out. This one is not as thick as the old one but works great. You can cut it but not with scissors as the instructions suggest. Another reviewer mentioned using exacto knife and it worked great.5
Poor roller systemCamilaI bought it and in 2 weeks it was not working. They sent another product and the same happened. The system to open and close is really bad.1
AwfulBreanneThe string lever gets stuck and you have to push it super hard, causing strain on the cheap plastic mounts which then break 1
It's fineAndrewI dunno how are people breaking them so much, they're fine5
Blind FailureMatthewUnfortunately, the spring in the blind seems to regularly get stuck, rendering the blind inoperable. Despite troubleshooting with available help on line, and the blind working for short periods of time, the issue reoccurs regularly. Will be replacing.1
Not long lastingMelissaInstalled easily but after a months use the mechanism in the blind pull broke. Disappointed in the durability of this product. 1
The quality is normal while it's new.DanielThe quality is fine so far, but one star for not including screws for $70 Canadian? What's wrong with that? I paid $70 for a piece of fabric, and I have to buy screws separately somewhere. It didn't even say anywhere that screws weren't included, and no one told me about it. I only saw it in the instructions after unpacking it at home.1
Good but brakes in under 1 yearYanThe plastic handle and the roll bar stop functioning in under 1 year - which I was expecting to be honest. Otherwise its great.3
Best blindsFrancisThese are the best blinds I ever gotten. I didn’t even know about that new stick to lower and raise the blinds until I installed them. So much better than the old rope or chain kind. Will definitely get more. Amazing quality/price. I only wish we could choose between left or right access to that stick. Still giving this 5 stars.5
Do not buyJessicaAs reviews report, they break and don’t work within a couple months. Purchased in April and as of July they no longer stay up, you roll them up and they just fall back down. No way to fix them and no warranty. Better off with others for less.1
Handle Broken After Less Than a YearDmytroBought less than a year ago, and now the operation handle has stopped working. Unfortunately, IKEA refused to provide any warranty support or assistance.2
Doesn't roll without getting unalignedArzooBecause the blind is essentially a long piece of fabric, rolling it up sometimes causes it to bunch up on one side. I find myself having to pull down and start again and guide with my hands to make it roll up all the way up without getting stuck. Maybe there's a knack to roll it up smoothly? For now at least, I would not buy again.1
window blindRoberteasy to assemble and works well5
Best Blinds EverBarbaraThese blinds were easy to install. They totally block out any light. And, the bonus - my cats like them and haven’t destroyed them!!!5
Do not get the 70" onePaulInstalled fairly easily inside my window frame Thankfully did not have to cut it. However the mechanism is so difficult to open and close. I wish it had a simple chain to operate. Buy something else and save yourself the hassle.1
Easy to install and darken the roomRobertoI really like this shade. It was easy to install and it darkens the room as expected. It is also easy to operate. 5

Why we hide the cord in FRIDANS

Children are curious and love to investigate things. These character traits also mean we have to be aware of safety when we decorate our homes. Accessible cords on traditional blinds have been known to cause accidents with children. That’s why we developed FRIDANS block-out roller blind. It has a rod that you use to adjust the blind – a safe solution for children, and functional for all ages.

In 2014, we got an invitation, along with other manufacturers of blinds, to meet with the Consumer Product Safety Commission – a governmental agency in the United States. They wanted to discuss how to prevent accidents with blinds that have accessible cords, and what possibilities there were to create something better. One of our Product Engineers, Bo Zhang, remembers it well. “We decided to immediately stop selling blinds with cords and only sell cordless ones.”

New solution but the same function

The decision meant some frustrated customers who wondered where the traditional blinds had gone. But it also meant that change was on the way. Bo and the team tried several different solutions until they came up with one that provided the same functionality as blinds with visible cords. “We realized we could keep the cord, but hide it,” he explains. The cord is inside a plastic rod that’s expandable and reinforced with strong glass fiber. When you pull it, you adjust the blind. “It’s safe, exact, and still at a low price,” says Bo proudly. The rod has not only been tested by our own lab, but also independent test labs. In addition, customers have checked the functionality. “By involving different people and organisations, we’ve made sure FRIDANS and the rod can meet the toughest demands – in every market,” says Bo. “The rod allows parents to create a safer environment for the youngest family members. When you live with children, that’s one important part of a better life at home,” he finishes.

Function solution

Blackout fabric

The black-out fabric effectively blocks out all light. Perfect for people who are sensitive to light during sleep, anytime of the day. It prevents glare on TV’s and digital screens. It offers complete privacy at all hours since people outside cannot see in, even when the room is lit.
