Sustainable Packaging

Using more sustainable packaging for shipping
The IKEA flat packs have been made of cardboard for decades, one of the few materials recycled on a global scale. We recognize that this is not enough. That’s why we’re working to use only renewable, recycled, and recyclable materials for all our products, packaging, and shipping by 2030.
Our starting point will always be to use material that is renewable and easily recyclable. We will remove all single-used plastic packaging material from our supply chain when possible, and collaborate with industry leaders to decrease our environmental footprint - at lower cost - and increase our material innovation.
Many of our packaging solutions can already be reused by our customers for different purposes. For example, when storing, moving, or reselling your product. Inside our packages, our products are often protected by different kinds of supporting material, which we can reuse as filling for new parcel boxes.
