Memory foam & foam pillows
Fancy a great night's sleep with a pillow that really suits you? A memory foam pillow moulds itself to the shape of your head and neck, giving you good support that helps you relax. They come with covers that can be washed in your machine so you can easily keep them clean and fresh.
Rest easy with a memory foam pillow
Rest comes easy in carefully selected, personalised beds – and what could be a better addition to your bed than a pillow that adapts to your shape? A memory foam pillow moulds to fit the shape of your head perfectly, while providing just enough support to keep you in a relaxed position. This is how a memory foam pillow helps relieve tension in your back, neck and shoulders as you sleep soundly.
What makes memory foam pillows so special?
Memory foam pillows are crafted from a unique material that responds to your body heat and pressure. They mould to your contours, providing personalised support. This helps alleviate pressure points and maintain proper spinal alignment. It’s a good choice for those experiencing neck and shoulder pain. Unlike traditional pillows, memory foam retains its shape over time. This ensures consistent support.
Are memory foam pillows suitable for all types of sleepers?
All memory foam pillows are designed to provide you with comfort and support. However, different pillows are designed to work better for different sleeping positions. To find the perfect foam pillow, consider whether you sleep on your back, side or stomach. Choose the pillow that's right for you by checking the product description.
Why is my memory foam pillow uncomfortable?
If you're finding your memory foam pillow uncomfortable, don't fret – there might be simple solutions:
- Allow time for adjustment: It can take a few weeks for your body to adapt to the new support.
- Check the pillow height: Ensure it's suitable for your sleeping position and body type. A good pillow height keeps your head, neck and spine properly aligned while still feeling comfortable.
- Consider the room temperature: Memory foam responds to heat, so a cooler room might make the pillow firmer.
- Examine your sleeping posture: You might need to adjust your position to fully benefit from the pillow's design. While back sleepers can rest their head in the middle, side sleepers should fill the gap from ear to shoulder. If you are a stomach sleeper, use a thin pillow or none at all.
Comfort is personal. If discomfort persists, you might need to explore different shapes or densities of memory foam pillows to find a better match.
Tip: Flip the pillow!
Many of our memory foam pillows have different sides to accommodate to different sleeping positions. For instance, the same pillow can have one side that ergonomically fits a back sleeper and one side that’s more suitable for a side sleeper. The two sides can in these cases have both different heights and slopes to offer the most ergonomic and comfortable support for your spine and neck. So, if you feel like the pillow isn't giving you the right support, try flipping it over!
Does this mean you continuously have to flip the pillow during the night? Of course not. The memory foam will help you rest comfortably even as you move, stir or change positions during the night. The pillow will adapt to the weight of your head and neck when you move. This way, it provides soft and comfortable support even if you regularly shift from one sleeping position to another.
Memory foam filling: Dense, soft, mixed or shredded?
Do you want firm support from your pillow, or do you prefer to be enveloped in softness? Memory foam pillows have different characteristics depending on their filling. Some pillows are light and soft, while others are sturdy and dense. Some have multiple layers, which makes a pillow that's soft on the surface but still sturdy enough to offer proper support.
The different memory foam solutions also offer different ways to regulate temperature and wick away moisture. Some pillows have small holes that allow air to flow through the pillow. Others are filled with shredded memory foam that allows warm air to escape and be replaced with fresh, cool air. Whichever pillow you choose, remember that the pillowcase also affects the pillows ability to breathe and regulate temperature. So, have a look at our different pillowcases to make sure you get that perfect night’s sleep you deserve.
How do you care for your memory foam pillow?
Maintaining a memory foam pillow is simple and straightforward. To keep it fresh and clean, use a removable, washable pillow cover. Spot clean any stains with a mild detergent and a damp cloth. Avoid excessive moisture which can damage the foam. Air out your pillow regularly to remove odours and keep it fresh.
Please note memory foam should never be machine washed or dried, as this can compromise its supportive properties.
