Product details

Wireless smart blinds darken your bedroom with a push on the remote control – and you won’t have your sleep disturbed by moonlight or be woken by the sun when you want to sleep in late.

By connecting this product to DIRIGERA hub, you get more out of it and can also control it, together with other smart products, in the IKEA Home smart app.

The blind comes pre-paired with the remote control and the signal repeater.

For the blinds wireless functions to work, the signal repeater (included in the package) needs to be plugged in to a power socket within 32 feet from the blind.

The blind is cordless for increased child safety.

BRAUNIT battery pack is the power source to your wireless roller blind.

No need to change fittings or drill new holes if you change your blinds. The wall/ceiling brackets included in the package are suitable for TRETUR, FYRTUR and KADRILJ roller blinds

Reviews

Highly recommendI have 12 of these, all linked to Hubitat Elevation. The IKEA hub is not needed. The first blind I bought was right when they became available for sale several years ago. All 12 blinds open at sunrise and close at sunset. The batteries last about 2 months before needing a recharge. I recommend you buy a spare battery. My windows are not a standard size, so I cut them with help from a YouTube video. 5
Excellent for price, wish there were some more optionsJaysonLove this shade. It stays connected to by Hubitat well and reports back it's status. There are some options that would make it that much better though: an optional valance would be nice, the bottom bar could be more weighted, and an option to hardwire instead of the battery would be great. However, with a little DIY, all these things can be accomplished.5
Love These Blackout ShadesJamesWe have the Fyrtur blackout shades covering the wall of windows in our living room. Watching TV during daylight hours is much more enjoyable without all that light. I just got this shade to block out the glare on the computer monitor in my office. I highly recommend these for anyone wanting to block out the light.5
WORKS FINE AND SIMPLEVojinVery satisfied. It works simple and without any problem5
Clean and usefulJeunessePerfect for blackout5
Loving my blindsJohnsonHave never cleaned my windows in the past 5years with those traditional blinds in place. These blinds are bringing in more light whenever I need it with just an ask to Alexa. Battery life seems to be good. And my windows are so clean now because of the ease to clean them with these blinds and they improved the indoor living experience. I got a total of 8 blinds. The first two I paid a little extra and the last 6, I saved $300 during the Thanksgiving holidays. Loving them so far.5
No warranty and brokenAntonioThey don’t have any warranty. Broken after 8 months. No recourse but to buy another one. I’d recommend to avoid 1
The best feature of my smart homeDanielIncredibly easy to set up, super reliable. The best value in smart blinds5
Just installed 5 blindsGreggJust finished installing 5 of these blinds, 2 different sizes. While the mounting brackets are included, screws are not. Biggest disappointment was that batteries for the remotes are not included - CR2032. While the instructions have directions for controlling up to 4 blinds with 1 remote, that's not what I want as I have 4 different windows in this room - so I have 5 different "repeaters" plugged into 5 outlets in the room. Suggest securing a power supply to plug all these into. Lastly, the battery that goes into the blinds takes HOURS to charge - I hope they last a while (cycles). Generally, straight forward install, quiet and I think they'll work for their intended purpose. 4
I wanted to like them...DaltonI bought 2 units. One of them is defective. The other the remote control stopped working. The fabric for the blinds are really good, but the motor is not. I will try to replace them to see if I got better luck.1
So coolAndrewLove the ability to tell Siri to close the shades. 5
1 and 7 will failEnkuAfter almost 2 years, 1 in 7 failed, and Ikea will not replace them.3
Remote BlindsAngeeThis is an excellent product but very difficult to connect to hub, remote and smart devices(Alexa). Have a product that I can’t fully operate as described.2
awesome valueJudydelivered quick and installation was a snap5
Consider them disposableRogerAs other reviews indicate: These don't last very long. The motors or receivers die after about a year. None that I've bought have lasted much longer than a year, I'm on my way back for a third time to exchange yet another set that has died.1
1/6 failed after just over a year. Software is iffy. No spare parts.YuriThese blinds aren't cheap, they are also not very expensive in the world of home automation, and it's achieved with shortcuts: Software wise the app is iffy at best, besides an awful pairing procedures, the timer at times fail (unclear why despite troubleshooting), and it only works if you are on your home WiFi. Hardware wise: it's a solid value, but blinds either don't fully cover the window so plenty of lights gets through each edge or the motor bar don't fit inside the window frame widthwise, as there is a couple extra inches on each side of bumpouts, overtime the fabric overtime starts deforming (especially on the sunny side) and there are no replacements, finally 1 of 6 blinds the stepper motor just died despite exactly same duty cycle as the rest. Feels like IKEA got into the business of making e-waste, certainly not making an effort to give these blinds a long life. Speaking of long life the battery does last many months between charges.2
They r wonderful keep the hot heat out they are really safe if u have little babies or kidsLeticiaWhen u want to open it it rolled slowly is really safe5
Great smart blindsAlexisOverall a great product. Easy to install and operate. Have only 2 issues - needs more color/shade options and the SmartHub and IKEA Smart Hub app only work while connected to the same WiFi on your phone, requires a third party app like Alexa to control while you are out of the home.4
only work with remote or hub not both at the same timeArpitthis is the most stupid smart blind I have seen it can only work with remote or hub at 1 time if you program them both it will not work so it is not smart blind its a stupid blind1
Died just after warrantyScottAnnoying to set up but functional once they worked. Unfortunately, died after only 12 months but just outside of warranty. Do not buy.1

Our take on polyester

Polyester is a durable, wrinkle-resistant and easy-care material that is ideal for many home furnishing products like rugs, pillows, quilts and cushions. The downside to virgin polyester is that it is made from oil, coal or natural gas. This means that when we use virgin polyester, we are exhausting the planet’s natural resources. Our response to this, is to replace all virgin polyester with recycled in our products. In 2020, we achieved the milestone of replacing 79% of the virgin polyester used in IKEA textile products and will accelerate the transformation towards the aim of only using recycled polyester throughout the product range where polyester is used.

Virgin vs recycled polyester

Originally, all polyester was made from oil-based raw materials which are not renewable but we are switching to only using recycled polyester. The good thing is that polyester can be recycled over and over, without negatively affecting the quality of our products. When we make products from recycled polyester, we give a second life to material that is not biodegradable and reduce the amount that may otherwise end up in landfill or the ocean. Instead, PET and other sources of polyester are used to make textiles, storage boxes, kitchen fronts and even lamps. Recycled polyester is just as good as virgin polyester in terms of looks, quality and function, and produces about 50% less in CO2 emissions. And the material is just as clean and safe in every way.

Some challenges with recycled polyester

Recycled polyester makes us less dependent on oil. The amount we convert, is equal to the amount of virgin fossil fuel we eliminate from our polyester raw material (this excludes potential dyeing and other post recycled polyester production treatments). With some exceptions, the challenge is not the conversion of polyester into recycled itself, but to make it available to everyone by keeping it affordable. Buying low environmental impact products often comes with a higher price tag. We want to change that by working to make recycled polyester products more affordable and accessible to the many people.

Only recycled polyester

IKEA is committed to end the dependency on virgin fossil materials and only use renewable or recycled materials by 2030. We are accelerating this movement for polyester in our range and aim to replace all virgin polyester in our textile products with recycled. In 2020, IKEA replaced 79% of the virgin polyester used in IKEA textile products with recycled polyester. In volume, this means we converted 130,000 metric tonnes of recycled polyester, and saved 200,000 tonnes of virign polyester. We haven’t reached our 100% goal yet, but we have come far and overcome many obstacles on the way. These volumes make us a leader in converting to recycled polyester and we hope that our decisions can inspire and motivate whole industries to change.

Responsible sourcing

At IKEA, we demand that all recycled polyester used in IKEA products shall come from recyclers that are compliant with the Global Recycled Standard and traceability is secured to the IKEA product through requirements toward the IKEA Suppliers. By only using recycled polyester that meets the Global Recycled Standards we manage to secure social, environmental and chemical practices at the recycler’s production. We believe that the GRS standard is the best standard on the market today. We work with our partners and textile organisations such as Textile Exchange to further improve standards on recycled materials, including traceability of material beyond the recycling units.

Function solution

Block-out fabric

The block-out fabric effectively blocks out all light. Perfect for people who are sensitive to light during sleep, anytime of the day. It prevents glare on TV’s and digital screens. It offers complete privacy at all hours since people outside cannot see in, even when the room is lit.
