Product details

The fabric blocks out all light and glare on TV/screens. It gives complete privacy as shapes or light cannot be perceived from outside and the transition between day/night cannot be distinguished

Perfect for people who are sensitive to light during sleep, anytime of the day.

Blinds reduce heat from the sun as well as heat loss from draughty windows. For best effect, mount the blind inside the window recess, or as close to the window as possible to prevent gaps.

Can be cut to desired width.

The blind can be cut and re-cut to fit a smaller window. Ensure that you do not exceed maximum cut length.

Can be mounted inside or outside the window recess, or in the ceiling.

The blind is cordless for increased child safety.

The block-out film and the smooth, white wrinkle-free surface make the roller blind spot-on as a projector screen for movie nights!

Ratings and reviews

Best blindsFrancisThese are the best blinds I ever gotten. I didn’t even know about that new stick to lower and raise the blinds until I installed them. So much better than the old rope or chain kind. Will definitely get more. Amazing quality/price. I only wish we could choose between left or right access to that stick. Still giving this 5 stars.5
Do not buyJessicaAs reviews report, they break and don’t work within a couple months. Purchased in April and as of July they no longer stay up, you roll them up and they just fall back down. No way to fix them and no warranty. Better off with others for less.1
Handle Broken After Less Than a YearDmytroBought less than a year ago, and now the operation handle has stopped working. Unfortunately, IKEA refused to provide any warranty support or assistance.2
Doesn't roll without getting unalignedArzooBecause the blind is essentially a long piece of fabric, rolling it up sometimes causes it to bunch up on one side. I find myself having to pull down and start again and guide with my hands to make it roll up all the way up without getting stuck. Maybe there's a knack to roll it up smoothly? For now at least, I would not buy again.1
window blindRoberteasy to assemble and works well5
Best Blinds EverBarbaraThese blinds were easy to install. They totally block out any light. And, the bonus - my cats like them and haven’t destroyed them!!!5
Do not get the 70" onePaulInstalled fairly easily inside my window frame Thankfully did not have to cut it. However the mechanism is so difficult to open and close. I wish it had a simple chain to operate. Buy something else and save yourself the hassle.1
Easy to install and darken the roomRobertoI really like this shade. It was easy to install and it darkens the room as expected. It is also easy to operate. 5
Very hard to cutSophieI normally love ikea and find their products easy to assemble and install. This is not that. -For an inside mount you have to pre drill holes through the plastic -cutting the blind down to size is “easy” but it’s on a long roll so very difficult to maintain a smooth line. -then you have to saw off the metal, leaving 3/16 from the roll- which I just scissor cut so it’s not a perfect line -once installed, the wand is stiff and it needs pressure to push and pull -the blind doesn’t roll up all the way I have to manually roll it after I think maybe I got a lemon!!!??2
Defective Blackout Blind – System Broke, Had to Throw It AwayNeilaAt first, I was happy with this blackout roller blind. The size was just right, and the white color looked clean and modern in my space. Unfortunately, after only a couple of months, the roller mechanism stopped working properly. It no longer rolled up smoothly and eventually got stuck completely. I tried to fix it, but the system seems poorly made and fragile. In the end, it became unusable and I had to throw it away. Really disappointing for something that should last much longer.1
For this blind - "Measure 17 times. Cut once."StephenThe instructions for installing into a window cavity option are fundamentally wrong. Blinds themselves are fine. Nothing special. But their method of calculating how much of the blind material and metal roller you need to cut off ( for your specific window size), is horribly, horribly wrong. They don't account for the brackets on the side, or the final attachment of the wand/stick adjuster. Be very, very careful and triple check before cutting anything. It makes a 10 min job far longer.3
Its GreatMarcelEasy to install Easy to use Does exactly what it supposed to do 5
better than FÖNSTERBLADShibetter than FÖNSTERBLAD, hope it has more color choices5
Not a blackoutSerhiiHuge gaps no matter how you install it, inside window or on the wall. The fabric wrinkles very easily and it smells like burnt plastic when the sun hits the window, and it's not even a summer yet2
Friday blindsGillesHad to cut them down about an inch and switch one to have the rod on the left side (youtube videos available on how to do that). Found it easier to cut the metal tube with tin snips than a hack saw. IKEA should make them reversible. 4
Works well, limited install. ChrisFirst off, I love the black out. Works wonderfully. No complaints with the actual process of installing the blind, very straight forward and if one takes care, not really anywhere to easily make a mistake. However... I have at least two windows I'd like to put these over, but the location of the handle is less than ideal. I can't find anything about flipping the side, and simply mounting it backwards wouldn't work as nice (blind would come off the roll over the top/front instead of the back). 4
Good qualityCynthiaGood quality5
Blinds are good but some are defectiveNancyI’ve purchased 6 blinds and 4 of them were good. Had to return one because it was defective and did not scroll down smoothly and the pulling lever was bent. Got a replacement and same thing happened when I installed it except for the entire roller pole was bent. Still hard to bring blind down and up but tired of making multiple ikea trips and returns. Just going to keep the second defective one. Other blinds are great though and blacks out /darkens the bedrooms dramatically. Good price for decent product (pay for what you get). Happy with ikea customer service and understanding still. 4
Love Ikea but this did't lastValerieIt didn't last one year before it stopped rolling up and down. The blind can become misaligned, then get caught in the gears (or so it appears), and then fray and break. The blind pull (stick) must be used very gently and always in a stringent up-and-down position so you can't stand to one side or use it at an angle, or the blind can break. I must roll it up and down by hand (which is very difficult) until I get a replacement. When rolling it up by hand -the pull stick can shoot out and whack anything you might have nearby (broke a vase on a table). That was kinda sad and funny as it took me a minute to understand what on earth happened! The blind is poorly designed and does not last, but it is very affordable, so perhaps that is to be expected. I have another that is the same, and it's still okay, but obviously -you take your chances with this one.1
Quality shutter DaxeshI’m extremely happy with shutter quality and the functionality.5

Accessories for FRIDANS

FRIDANS Blackout roller blind, white, 38x76 ¾ "

Why we hide the cord in FRIDANS

Children are curious and love to investigate things. These character traits also mean we have to be aware of safety when we decorate our homes. Accessible cords on traditional blinds have been known to cause accidents with children. That’s why we developed FRIDANS block-out roller blind. It has a rod that you use to adjust the blind – a safe solution for children, and functional for all ages.

In 2014, we got an invitation, along with other manufacturers of blinds, to meet with the Consumer Product Safety Commission – a governmental agency in the United States. They wanted to discuss how to prevent accidents with blinds that have accessible cords, and what possibilities there were to create something better. One of our Product Engineers, Bo Zhang, remembers it well. “We decided to immediately stop selling blinds with cords and only sell cordless ones.”

New solution but the same function

The decision meant some frustrated customers who wondered where the traditional blinds had gone. But it also meant that change was on the way. Bo and the team tried several different solutions until they came up with one that provided the same functionality as blinds with visible cords. “We realized we could keep the cord, but hide it,” he explains. The cord is inside a plastic rod that’s expandable and reinforced with strong glass fiber. When you pull it, you adjust the blind. “It’s safe, exact, and still at a low price,” says Bo proudly. The rod has not only been tested by our own lab, but also independent test labs. In addition, customers have checked the functionality. “By involving different people and organisations, we’ve made sure FRIDANS and the rod can meet the toughest demands – in every market,” says Bo. “The rod allows parents to create a safer environment for the youngest family members. When you live with children, that’s one important part of a better life at home,” he finishes.
