This filter works really well, until it doesn'tAnonymousThe filter worked well, very well, for many months, maybe even a year. I kept checking the little light on the purifier to see if it was time to replace the filters but there was no indication. Then a couple of weeks ago, I turned it on at night and then when we woke up the room smelled really bad! We thought it was coming from somewhere else, since our bedroom is in a semi-basement, and kept trying to use the purifier until we finally clued in it was the filter that was smelling and pushing the pungent stink-bug-like stench into our room! Not a pleasant way at all to find out it's time to replace it.

Really miss the Ikea shuttle service from subway station to get more of these.
I honestly don't think this does anything Anonymous reviewerWhen I initially bought the air purifier there were out of stock so I just used it with the particle filter for months. I saw a noticeable difference in dust so I made a trip just to get these filters. After accidentally burning something, this didn't help with the smell despite running overnight and the whole next day on full blast (with a brand new filter). We ended up opening the window for 20 mins in the winter to clear the smell.
We don't have any lingering odours in the house so I really only wanted this filter for cooking odours. I haven't noticed a difference when it's there or not. The other filter is great though

It worksEmmaA couple of months ago my city's Air quality became the worst in the world due to mountain fires. Because it was summer time, I always kept my windows open and my bedroom started to smell like an old guy who smoke cigarettes a lot. I was very stressed and my old ikea filter (white one) couldn't absorb the smell at all. I had an item to return to Ikea and I found this black filter and bought it hoping it would help my bedroom smell.
And the magic happened. My bedroom became fresher than ever and I will keep buying this filter.

I was really impressed with the density of these carbon filters compared to competing brands like Honeywell. I came from a dual tower with U filters and these in combination with the HEPA cartridges completely eliminated the stale air and methane smells lingering in my basement due to local city sewer issues.
These also work quite well for 3D printing and soldering odors.
