Why is it taking so long to replenish stock?
Due to the ongoing situation with COVID-19, we are experiencing delays in replenishing stock in our stores and warehouses.
We realize how frustrating it can be to have an unfinished project because of stock issues. A half-completed kitchen or home office is incredibly inconvenient, especially if you've been waiting several months for a few key items. Although there have been many improvements lately, there are still some issues are related to:
- Reduced staff in warehouses which produce many of our articles
- A worldwide lack of shipping containers
- High ocean traffic and congestion at the ports (Los Angeles port can have up to 40 shipping vessels waiting to unload at any given moment)
- Backlog at Border & Customs agencies due to reduced staff
Given these issues, IKEA has taken many steps to secure supply across all our stores. Some of these steps include:
- Aggressive ordering from all our suppliers
- Continuing to restock our stores as much as possible outside of Cash and Carry closures
Despite these issues, the good news is that we're seeing the situation improve every day. Although, if you do plan on ordering a kitchen from IKEA, we recommend waiting until you have all the necessary pieces before demolishing your current kitchen.
We sincerely apologize for any trouble our customers may have faced due to this situation, and we'd like to thank you for your patience and understanding.
