Poor quality and poor customer serviceHarvinThe sofa looks good and seems functional at first, but the problems started almost immediately after using it. Within a month of purchase, the fabric began peeling badly. It has become uncomfortable to sit on because the cheap material constantly sheds and irritates the skin.
What made the experience even worse was the customer service. After contacting them for help, I was essentially told that it was my problem and that they could not do anything about it.
Very disappointing quality and poor after-sales support.1
Completely lost firmness within yearVirallumarI bought a sofa bed from IKEA in Dec 2024, expecting decent quality for the price. Within a year, the cushioning completely lost its firmness. Now when I sit, I can literally feel the hard frame underneath — it’s that bad.
I understand wear and tear happens, but this is way too quick for a sofa that wasn’t even heavily used. I couldn’t raise it earlier due to personal reasons, but after about 15 months, it’s basically unusable as a comfortable seat or bed.
Honestly, I’d recommend spending a bit more on a better-quality option instead of going for this. Not worth the money at all.1

Great sofa-bedKenjiiI’ll keep it short and simple, I’ve been using this sofa bed as my main sleeping bed and it has not failed me at all, it’s on the firmer side but if you like that, I 100% recommend5
Attractive, firm but quite comfortable.WarwickI had to get someone to help with setting it up, but it was well worth the effort. I can sit, slouch, lie on it quite comfortably for hours and it looks great.4
Poor qualityNicoleWe have had IKEA couches for years and they were wonderful and are still going. We bought this in 2022 and within a year it was lumpy and the back cushions had lost all shape. The fabric pills and regularly needs a fabric shaver run over it. Not comfortable to sleep on as an adult but kids seem to be fine with it.1
Could be betterLenThe pull out gets a bit stuck after only 3 months. It would be nice to have a removable cover [L shaped] which can be purchased with the product to protect the original fabric4

Poorly made with flimsy materialsAnonymousThe back rest of my Friheten sofa snapped after only 3 years of owning it. While the design is very clever, it's overall poorly constructed with every detail being skimped on. The back part which broke for me is made of structural chipboard joined together with large staples, no wonder it gave out. The upholstery is all just stapled on, and every inch of surface which isn't immediately visible from the outside is either bare of upholstery or clad in an unsightly black fabric, meaning you can forget about turning over the cushions for even wear.
It's also one of the worst assembly experiences I've had with Ikea, as connecting the chaise section involves leaning in underneath the liftable storage to screw in multiple nuts, but without being able to place your weight anywhere due the to the bottom of the storage area being made of a single piece of cheap lightweight chipboard with a big sticker on it instructing you not to press down on it.1
Excellent Second SofaKellyanneGreat sofa bed for the family room. Easy to assemble, and easy to covert to a bed with great storage for pillows and linens. Firm but comfy seating and sleeping. So far it’s had little kids and big kids (20s) sleep over and no complaints 😁4
Good qualityAmandeepBit firm. Not soft4
Firm and stable.StevenGreat product at a good price.5
Great sofa - but.AnthonyI like the sofa, the design and functionality. But I feel it's a little low quality for a Ikea product. Screws are alreay coming loose.3
Quality has gone down from a few years agoRussellThis is our third of these sofabeds, in the exact same fabric and colour, as we’ve moved overseas a few times, but the quality has gone downhill. The fabric piles easily, the foam doesn’t bounce back very quickly, and it’s losing its shape. We’ve only had this one for just over a year. Our first two looked like new, even after several years of owning them and heavy use. 3
Not sturdy enough on the one side without the "L" attachmentHoneylette MiaIt was easy to assemble. But not sturdy enough to carry weight on the weak side leg (without "L" attachment). The weak side leg keeps sliding out. Not sure how to fix it.4
Love ItJennyEasy to fold out to a bed and fold away. The storage section is excellent for storing the bedding. The mattress is "comfortable" - certainly not inner spring comfort but good for sleepovers.5
5 years old and still perfect ArchanaI bought the leather look fabric and I'm amazed. My lounge is still in great condition with no tears or flaking. Well done Ikea5
