Can I install custom-made stone worktop waterfalls?

Older houses and apartments have either timber or floating flooring which may not be able to support the weight of a stone waterfall design. In addition, vibrations from these types of flooring may cause the stone waterfall to crack.

If your custom-stone benchtop includes a waterfall feature, the Stone Mason will assess the installation site for suitability to make sure they have safe access and that the stone can be securely installed during the Check and Measure. As part of this process, they may discuss the requirements for a safe installation with you and any necessary revisions.

Most of the weight from the stone will go directly into the floor, not the cabinets. As such, the Stone Mason will verify that your flooring is strong enough for this type of design during the Check and Measure appointment.

The Stone Mason will mainly be looking for a sturdy, stable floor that is not likely to shift or vibrate. Movements like these may cause your stone waterfall to crack once installed.
