Product details

The fabric blocks out all light and glare on TV/screens. It gives complete privacy as shapes or light cannot be perceived from outside and the transition between day/night cannot be distinguished

Curtains with heading tape allow you to hang the curtain directly on the curtain rod using the rod pocket or tabs. You can also hinge the curtain onto a track rail using gliders and hooks.

Using gliders and hooks usually creates a more formal and dressed-up feel, where hardware is not visible.

Good light blocking but hard to washMinaThe thin blackout curtains at ikea are 100% light blocking. BUT the black lining is not porous and when you wash in a machine, the water doesn’t wet the colored side and yet the lining holds water so that the spin doesn’t drain it and you get water all over the floor when you take it out. I wish IKEA had a questions section so someone could tell me any tricks they’ve come up with to wash these. They also attract the sun and get very hot. I have now put them in front of light filtering curtains on a 2nd rod so that they don’t absorb so much heat. In the winter they would offer zero insulation. These do actually look nice.3

NICE CURTAINS FrankOVERALL I LIKE THESE CURTAINS A LOT. THE MATERIAL IS A LITTLE THIN, BUT AFTER I HUNG THEM, THEY REALLY LOOKED NICE. These black out curtains are perfect!ReneeThis pair of long curtains are perfect for my bedroom. They are long enough and wide enough to cover a double exterior door (glass window door). The curtains are lightweight and the backing is some kind of black plastic coating applied to the fabric - lightweight coated fabric but not flimsy. These look like normal fabric curtains, not stiff. The lightweight fabric doesn't stress the curtain rod. The coated blackout fabric hangs easily and has enough weight to hang beautifully, and the curtains look great. I hung them on the back rod of a double curtain rod made of black steel (with heavier cotton curtains hanging in front). And, best of all, these curtains really block light and have made it possible to sleep longer because the room is darker in the morning. I hung the curtains directly on a 1/2-inch metal rod using the heading tape that has tabs, or wide groups of fine threads that are spaced along the heading tape. Everything worked out perfectly and I love these curtains. 5
Beauty and the BeastJonThe curtains have a black plastic side. Nobody at Ikea thought about what the curtains look like from the exterior... or heat gain... the interior fabric side looks good enough, but the exterior is very low quality and aesthetically useless. if you buy you'll need to do a second layer between the window and the blackout, or settle with hideous appearance. 2

First they are very short, much shorter then other curtains I've bought in the past. The second while being good black out they are very thin. They are not heavy as some of the old style IKEA ones I have. To some this could be a Plus, but to me because they are so thin they don't cover up gaps in my large windows.3

Material

What is polyester?

Polyester is a durable, quick-drying and insulating material that is optimal to use for textiles and as filling in pillows, quilts and furniture. The material is made from crude oil – a limited resource. Since IKEA doesn’t want to contribute to more virgin oil being used, we are now gradually switching to recycled and traceable polyester from sources like PET bottles. What’s nice is that polyester can be recycled over and over, without changing or losing its great qualities.
