Headrest is awkwardRuthWe have had other Poang chairs before and thought very comfortable and attractive. But this one, the headrest always hangs down and hit me at top of my head. (i'm 5'5"). I've tried to remove some of the styrofoam to make it less bulky and tried attaching velcro to keep the headrest upright but hasn't worked. Headrest still hangs down. Otherwise its a nice chair. Too bad the headrest does not look like the ones in the photo.3
I LOVE this chair!!!LaurenI have 2 black leather Poang chairs I bought more than 10 years ago. The leather is very good quality and wipes down easily. I love the rocking/ bouncing feature. They both still look brand new and are more comfortable than any other chair I own. They recline far enough back and have good back support so that if you also get the ottoman, they're really comfortable for sleeping in.
Just be mindful, as others have said, that Ikea chairs tend to be proportioned best for shorter people. I am 5' 2" so they work well for me. The Poangs and my Tulsta armchair are all too small for my 5'8" daughter.5
too lowJohnI'm 6'-2" and I find that the chair sits too low for me to be comfortable3
Comfortable and of good quality RobertThis chair is a little too expensive, but it is very well made and comfortable.5
Most comfortable chair VeronicaThe comfort and simplicity of design is what I like the most! When my husband’s siblings visit they sit in them and smile!
Yes, I have told them where to purchase their own. 5
Wonderful!LisaPerfect for siting . A wonderful reading chair . I will be ordering the ottoman next

Comfortable seatingJosephI always had my eye on this chair and finally bought it for my living room. It has great support for my back and takes up minimum space. Still on the fence if I should purchase the matching footstool.5
Bring back the black leather and dark wood style! AprilLoved this chair while I had it. Very comfortable and stylish! I wanted to get another one just like this and the black leather/dark wood style isn't available anymore! Please bring it back! 5
Head cushion only works if you’re the exact right heightDaynaIf you’re too tall, the “neck” cushion pushes your shoulders forward. If you’re too short, the “neck cushion pushes the top of your head forward. This ridiculous cushion design is only comfortable if you’re exactly the right heigh and shape. Ridiculous. Ikea did not offer the ability to exchange this cushion. Buyer beware, if you want to “upgrade” to the leather, it may be completely unsuable. I’m debating if it’s better to just saw off the top of the chair versus wasting money on trying another cushion. Ive sat in Poang chairs at friends homes and thought that was what I was getting. But they had older cushions that didn’t have this ridiculous headrest. Would not recommend at all. Feeling major buyer’s remorse so much so that I don’t ever want to shop at ikea again.1
Poang leather fabricKarenA little difficult to get in and out of. Sort of comfortable. Angle of chair is a bit off. The back part of the seat feels at a rather uncountable angle. I bought a quality seat cushion to make the seat about for inches higher, and easier to get out of.
Challenging to assemble. 4
As-Is Steal! Gorgeous & ComfortableKristyBeen looking at this chair for awhile. Went to IKEA yesterday for blinds. Found this chair in the As-Is section for $152.99 (chair & cushion). Not a thing wrong with them. AND I didn't have to put it together. What a steal! I was as happy as a Hobbit at Second Breakfast. Looks great in my house. Thank you, Ikea!5
Comfort at a Great Price PointGeorgeThis chair was easy to assemble and has remained solid since purchase. Immediately comfortable and appears to have the quality, not only in the frame, but the leather insert. The curvature of the seating supports me from the bottom to the neck roll.5
Back Porch ChairsJamesWe had two already that we bought when living in Japan. They are very comfortable and have held up great.5
Good enoughIngridNot enough polyurethane finish on wood. Rough areas.5
Timeless styleEricIt's a well designed & engineered chair that offers very good comfort for years to come. This is my 2nd Poang and it joins my first that is over 15 years old and still looks great. Exceptional value in quality, casual furniture.5
Our go to chairElizabethWe like the lightness and durability of these chairs. We have had 4 Poäng chairs over 30 years, first when working and living in Europe. They serve us well, and we never wore one out, we just passed them on to others.5
Almost PerfectTracyI have a small 900 square foot home where space is at a premium. I really wanted a lounge chair and ottoman for a corner nook.
The color works perfectly with the rest of my light neutral home. The real leather cover is exactly what I wanted, because of allergies I avoid fabric material that can harbour dust mites and I can quickly remove any debris . The chair and ottoman are light weight, quick and easy to assemble, and to move around the house.
There are only a few tweaks or alternatives I wish were available to take this set from very good to fantastic.
1. Narrow/smaller footprint - I wish this chair was a few inches narrower. In a small space it looks much bigger than it is because of how wide it is. When I sit in the chair I easily have 2 to 3 inches of space on either side. The ottoman could easily be half the length and width.
2. Seat foam is too thin/weak - while the chair is very comfortable the chair seat foam pad is already starting to show buttock indentations. For a chair that is only a few weeks old it is disappointing. It will be an easy fix to add in thicker foam from a craft store or I might look into purchasing only the foam and trying to double stuff the bottom piece. No other pieces are showing wear yet, which makes sense as the bottom chair pad is going to hold the majority of the weight.
3. Matching arm pads and lumbar pillows - I would absolutely purchase matching arm pads and lumbar pillows to make this the ultimate lounge chair. Especially since the covers are easy to swap out it would increase the life of the chair since the frame is likely to last my lifetime.
4. More leather color options - I really wanted a tan or camel leather option, but would have considered other colors if given the option. Since it's so easy to swap out covers I could purchase multiple and change according to my mood or when seasons change.4
Awesome. Wish the ottoman wasn't out of stockTerryAwesome5
