It"s wonderfulTERRYWe bought this for my sister who lives in a small studio apartment. She had no kitchen table and the kitchen is small, so we got this beautiful table for her...white and clean, it looks perfect in her little kitchen. She loves it. It's sturdy and easy to clean, too. Being disabled, I couldn't assemble it myself, but TaskRabbit did it very quickly.5
Breakfast room tableWendyI absolutely love my table!5
Defective table; extremely disappointedharshitI bought this table last week & was excited for it to arrive. After assembling this for more than half an hour when I flipped it I noticed that the screws damaged the other side of the table. I made sure to follow complete instructions and only used the tools that came with it. I am extremely disappointed with this product.1

Easy assembly, long-lasting1958JSI just bought another two, having had to leave the others when I moved home. REALLY easy to assemble - just lay out the pieces and take your time. 30 mins max. I put mine together to use as a corner desk and pull them apart to put together differently if I have people round for dinner. Brilliant for small apartments, though I'd buy them for anywhere. SO solid and long lasting. Look great, too.5
Perfect for school and affordableLucylu15I was looking for a table/desk for my study room that was affordable. I am a dental student and this works perfect. Love the size of the length and width. It’s big enough where I can have my laptop, books, and notes out without having to put one away. Assembly is not bad at all compared to some other IKEA products that I put together in the past. This took about an hour.5
BiljaaaaaIt’s cute but scratches fast. For how much it costs, it’s great.5
Super easy buildBob the BI really debated on getting this table only because of all the bad reviews about the assembly. I read through one review, which advised to use a piece if cardboard on step 4/5, and convinced me to try and assemble on my own. It took me about 20 minutes to assemble with no problems. It's a sturdy table and for the price, you really can't complain. Overall, it's a great table to buy for a small dining area.5
A child could assemble this!JS1958I had my last one for 5 years and it was as perfect as the day I bought it. Had to give away only because I moved cross country. Have just bought another two that I use as an L-shaped desk and put together if I want a larger dinner party. Perfect for a small apartment. SO easy to assemble. AS with all IKEA stuff, just lay out your pieces and take it slowly. First one took me about 40 minutes; second one 15. Look great, don’t stain, sturdy. THE BEST! And only $69!5
Terrific!jenw1Very sturdy with zero wobbles! I know everyone has different struggles with IKEA assembly...but my 10yo assembled this 100% on his own in less than an hour. So it’s not that hard, you can do it!5
Partially brokenJason7345I bought this table about 2 weeks ago offline. The assembly was quite late because of the moving date, thought I've now found the corner of the table top broken. The quality and its robustness is very good for money, but I'm not sure if I could exchange this product as I discarded the receipt.3
Worst assembly on earth.EngineergotbeatenbytableI am an engineer, so far, in my life, I built many things - including many furniture. And this table has bay far the worst assembly I have ever seen. I ve seen reviews about this, and people were saying its hard to assemble, but I thought it couldnt be that hard. TRUST ME, though it is cheap, DO NOT BUY this item, it is not worth it.1
Difficult AssemblySukkulentI purchased this table about a year ago for a super small apartment. I managed to get 2 legs in place but the way that this was designed was so flawed, it required at least 3 people to hold two ends together while the other person does the tightening of the screws/bolts which seemed too short to connect to the other end. For something really simple, it took a long time to get together. Upon full assembly, the table functioned well despite the questionable assembly I went through. It has held up a lot of usage including liquids, stains, food, slamming, chopping, etc. After about a year, it only has one very small straight crack/burst on the surface.4
Great Value for MoneyPramakI just got this yesterday and assembled in 15 min and it quality for the money is great. I can see lot of customers complaining about assembly and the legs not being in level when assembling. At first I thought same though. But I found a trick and worked like a gem. Thought I would share so I everyone else can enjoy this nice table. After you bolt down your 2 pieces of underframe and working at step 5 to bolt other 2 pieces of underframe and legs, they have to lineup perfectly with a gap not to touch the base of table. If not you will have trouble like all been complaining. There will be a gap of about 3/16. so I used the thin cardboard strip which is approx 1/2 wide by 3/16 thick and laid on table and then set my table leg and remaining piece of underframe and then everything lined up so perfect and tightened the bolt. once you put the bolt u can remove the carboard and all looks perfect. I am attaching picture here, its not that perfect sketch but will give that idea. Thanks5
Unforgiving assemblyFrustratedInDCThis table is super cute. And the price can't be beat. But, it is the most unforgiving Ikea piece I have ever assembled. We have all flubbed an Ikea assembly (or two... or three). Normally, you unscrew, retrace your steps, and redo it correctly. Welp, that is not possible with the Melltorp table. If you mess up the first step, the screws will go straight through the tabletop... And you won't even figure it out until you are done assembling the table and flip it over proudly thinking you are all done. And your heart (and wallet) just sink when you see four giant holes on the tabletop. Granted, I made the mistake. I didn't read the instructions carefully, and I missed a vital step that led to the tabletop being irreparably damaged. But Ikea designers must know that assembly mistakes are incredibly common. Jokes about their inscrutable instruction booklets abound! They should make a table that cannot be destroyed if the customer makes one assembly mistake. So, that said, I gave this review one star to warn you about the table's assembly. But the table itself is cute and appears very sturdy. If you decide to buy it, just make sure you read the instructions very carefully.1
Assembly ImpossiblelandersI have purchased and assembled many, many Ikea furniture pieces. I am quite capable with tools and light construction. I spent hours trying to attach the legs to the table top and only succeeded in attaching two. The holes in the legs are not aligned properly so fitting to the side apron is impossible. With the legs being metal there is no way to adjust. This is extremely POORLY DESIGNED for assembly. Ikea, you can do better than this.1
Very DisappointedR K KI bought this table for my daughter's new apartment. After some time trying to get the legs to fit correctly...flipped it over and the screws went right through the table. Not happy with this product at all it is poorly made!!1
Incredible ValueMaciekPL87Awesome looking simple square table with a countertop that’s made of hard material that looks like it will stand the test of time and use. To those having trouble with bolts and last leg, make sure all legs are in their right orientation, tighten each leg bolt a bit at a time and flip the whole thing out of the countertop box into where you want the table.5
