Happy customerDavidThese blinds are definitely a game changer for my window set-up. It is so, for the versatility of it being able to be used for room darkening and on the flip side open-up to the natural light by the click of a button. The sleek look and the ease of operation makes it worth the investment.5
Good product, never in stockAqualungIf you're one of the lucky ... 5 Americans who managed to set their hands on Fyrtur shades, you can ... thank your lucky stars. The shades work fine, and they integrate reasonably well with Google's IoT environment, though I would not recommend those without good computer chops to attempt an installation, which can be quite frustrating. Otherwise, they are never in stock in the US, so be prepared to wait, and then wait some more until they become widely available.4
Neat concept, ok execution, poor qualityFireBadThese blinds operate ok, but the material of the blinds themselves make my house smell like an electrical fire. We actually called an electrician to confirm our wiring wasn't faulty because we couldn't figure out why it smelled like burning plastic suddenly in that room. After a lengthy investigation, we discovered the blackout fabric is the culprit. We've had them up for a month now and the smell has only gotten worse. Any longer and we'll have to remove them from our home.1
I own 9 of theseTGuelkerVery affordable. Easy to include on my Samsung SmartThings network with a custom device handler. I voided the warranty on 2 of these because I needed specific lengths (29” and 29.5”) which are not made so 2 of the 34” were cut to the lengths I needed. A YouTube video shows how to cut them. Again, this will most definitely void the warranty. Measure 4 times cut once.5
Used With the Remote They are PerfectAtothekIf you just use the remotes that come with the blinds, these work perfectly and are exactly what I wanted. Same thing from other companies costs 2-3x the price. I’ve read the gateway is horrible so I haven’t set that up. So these are not “smart blinds”, but I have no issue with just using the remotes that come with the blinds. Saves me from having to walk behind my desk to crank a blinds tilt on my old blinds. Love these!5
Nice Blinds: Don"t Fit Welllucas186I bought these blinds a while back and I just finished installing them. As I was looking at the windows I noticed a pretty wide gap. I was wondering if my old blinds had that, but they didn't (I've not replaced all my blinds, just a few). The reason is, the blinds don't fit to the edge like traditional blinds. Some of this is due to the motorization, some is due to... just not being cut wide enough. There's a pretty massive gap in the roller towards the edges, I have no idea why. It could easily include almost another 1 of fabric. The material on the 27 blinds is actually 25 1/4 wide. No where does it call this out. I do think they could easily be better fit and add at least an inch of material. It's a bit disappointing. This is consistent for the 48 blind too, the material is 46 1/4 wide. You can see in their product picture the gap between the fabric and side of the roller. Seems like it shouldn't be hard for them to cut it right up to the edge. Just realize that the product itself is 27, but the blind is not. I thought a 27 blind meant the blind itself would be that wide, not including the rail. Oh well, I'll probably return them. The motorized features work well so far. I don't have the hub to hook them up as a smart device, so I can't say how that works unfortunately. I really liked the idea, but that materials just leaves such a gap it's frustrating.2
Love itMarcuscromwellBought three. Easy to install. Pairing the remote can be a bit tricky, but doable. One battery is defective and will not hold a charge. No warranty information or details on how to get a replacement. IKEA should include that information with the product. Otherwise, I am happy with my purchase.4
Disappointing 2020 Tech and DefectiveGadgetGuruDespite my 45 years of tech skills and 56 devices currently controlled by Alexa and Google, could not get the Fyrtur remote to pair with the repeater or the gateway. I was also surprised to see a hub (gateway) that requires Ethernet connection to router because I've had a Wink hub and currently have a SmartThings hub, neither of which is as lame. VERY disappointed in IKEA, being returned to IKEA.In fairness, the blind unit itself is nice.1
Superior Quality.Marks4IDMediDespite any noted shortcomings, all around these units are there best. It's the overall value you get for these high quality units that sell for an incredible price. Do the research, you'll learn the huge price difference. One severe epic failure is that for the past 2 years, the sizes & availability was scarce. Delivery was NOT AN OPTION. I loved them so much, I flew & drove across several states to buy the complete set for my descent size house, about 30 or more.It was outrageously expensive especially because I had to UPS them home. But in the end, I have the necessary ones installed making a huge difference in temperature insullation being ready for this extreme summer heat.(Pls. note, my specific Value rating stands for my situation since I factored in total cost of procuring them). Now you can simply buy them online, as you'll save tons more than I.4
Nice standalone blinds; smart features aren"tBlueAZThe blinds look great, and work just fine with the wireless remote that is included. I bought these to work with Apple's HomeKit, and that was a spectacular failure. They absolutely will not work with the Tradfri gateway and Home Smart app. After four hours I gave up. I was able to get one set to pair, but they kept dropping offline every five minutes. The second set of blinds would not pair at all. There are options out there to use third-party solutions to get this going in the Google universe, but if you're an Apple user, look elsewhere. For those reading this thinking, He probably isn't very technical, I have 20+ years of software engineering and network engineering experience. This isn't my first rodeo.2
Great, when In StockTombs359Great blinds, great price. They work very well with HomeKit. Alexa integration is completely broken. IKEA please make more, I need more than 2...4
Great blinds, Smart app only downsideChapel BillThese smart blinds look great and are very easy to install. They look great and really are blackout. Have not had to charge the batteries in since install (over two months), so that is nice. The included remote is nice, and handy that it is magnetic. The only headache is getting them paired with the Ikea Home smart app (which you don't have to do, but it does fully-maximize their smartness). Once paired, though, they work beautifully with Google Home and Apple Homekit.5
Great systemLyssa27I use it all the time, simply amazing.5
High value but buggy softwareJason BauerI waited a long time for these shades and am overall happy with them. It should be said that the initial pairing was very cumbersome, and the HomeKit integration is still buggy.4
It does what it needs to do 80% of the timeKangoftheworldI bought this and have been using it for a while. It works great when it works but the closing and opening through google home or even the remote is a bit of a dice roll. I think the product quality is great, just issues with the software IMO4
We"d been waiting for these automatic blinds!LHingleyWe have a 'smart home', complete with automated blinds, but as they were so expensive to put in, we didn't cover a couple of small windows and couldn't justify adding them. When Ikea came out with these affordable smaller blinds, we eagerly awaited their release. They're perfect! Will be getting the Alexa control unit as well, so happy to see Ikea going Smart Home!5
Easily integrates with SmartThingsTGuelkerI purchased 3 of these for my home (still need to buy 7 more). Installing the 1st blind took about 10 minutes. The 2nd and 3rd took about 5 minutes each. I liked them so much my employer bought 2 (I installed those also). Samsung SmartThings has native support for IKEA smart blinds so adding them to my smart home was also easy. Developers have created custom device handlers so the remote works as intended. The TRADFRI gateway is not needed for SmartThings to control them.5
Easy Set Up, Works WellHomekitAddictI had no difficulty in installing or setting these up to work with the Smarthome app. Less than half an hour from unboxing to the pleasant sound of raising and lowering blinds. The Smarthome app isn't my favorite, and I can't seem to get timers to work consistently with the blinds, but I can live with it until integration with Apple Homekit happens (make it soon, though, please!). When that happens, I'll be ready to buy some more for other windows.4
Excellent blind, not fancy, not hard.SethMI have read about how hard these are to set up, how not fancy they are, etc. They are super simple did it in an hour or so,. I paired 6 blinds across two room. 1 gateway, 2 remotes, 2 repeaters. I paired it will Google home to set routines and voice control. The blinds aren't fancy. They come in multiple widths but a single length. You can set the length of the blind through the app and on the units directly. Overall a great product that is well priced. Perfect for my needs.5
