Not as it seemsJedWe bought this “unit” expecting a nice 3 tier storage system. What we got was 3 separate pieces that do not connect. False advertising would be an understatement. The pictures and measurements would lead any reasonable person to believe you are buying a single solid piece. Any “small print” in a single section of the description is not enough to make sure it is clear that you are getting 3 separate items.

Love themCatherineWhen I initially ordered, I thought it was one piece. When I realized it was 3 bookcases, I assumed they would attach to each other. Upon putting them together, they do not attach to each other, but they look like one unit and are very good looking and sturdy! This was my error, but it worked out beautifully anyway.
Deceptive advertising CaseyI ordered this unit due to showing a one piece unit, which I was needing. However upon delivery I received 2 boxes of separate small bookcases. I realized then that they sent me the wrong things but when contacting customer service found out it is 3 separate bookcases, with nothing to attach them to each other and I would have to wait yet another week for the 3rd one to be sent. So it will take a total of almost a month to get 3 separate pieces for something advertised as 1 large 94 1/2 inch long unit. Very disappointed in ikea for this one.
Photos and text are so misleading!ElizabethI wish I had read the reviews before purchasing, or been present when three boxes were picked up, rather than one. This is not a single unit, as the photos and text indicate -- it is simply three bookcases, side by side.

DisappointedAlisonThe switch from metal to plastic fasteners was a major and noticeable downgrade. One of mine broke while assembling, rendering it useless--and it's stuck inside so I am unable to fix it.
As other customers have pointed out, they should also make it clearer that this piece is actually just three of the smaller Billy cases with no way to join them.
I don't know if they've changed anything about the particle board, but it also chipped in multiple places while assembling.

Always a solid choiceDinaA Billy is a Billy. IYKYK. My only issue is the hardware that is now included. I am a little concerned about the longevity of the PLASTIC parts. They used to be all metal but, to cut costs and remain competitive, something had to be cut and this was it. Other than that, great, basic bookshelf.
