We are confident in the quality of our products and many items are covered by guarantees in addition to the legally stipulated period of three (3) years. You can see all our free guarantees and their terms and conditions in the PDF files you can download below.
Good to know:
Our guarantees and warranties start on the day of purchase. For the purpose of exchanges or replacements under the IKEA guarantee policy, you will have to present the original purchase receipt as proof of purchase.
The free guarantees given are valid and applicable exclusively in Portugal. Items bought in other countries will not be exchanged or replaced.
What is covered under this guarantee?
The terms and conditions of the IKEA product guarantees are set out in the "guarantee information" documents.
Duration of the guarantee
The terms and conditions of the IKEA product guarantees, including their duration, are set out in the "guarantee information" documents.
What will IKEA do to correct the problem?
IKEA will examine the product and decide if the defect reported is covered under the guarantee. It is up to the consumer to prove nonconformity under the terms of the applicable guarantees. It is up to IKEA Portugal to decide if the product in question will be repaired or replaced by an alternative of the same or a lower price, but with similar features. If IKEA Portugal decides to make a replacement and the customer wants a replacement that is more expensive, the customer must pay the difference. IKEA Portugal cannot guarantee a replacement from the same series as the series may have been discontinued. The product may be replaced by a product of a similar price and with similar features from another series or one from the same series but with different features, such as in terms of colour or other aesthetic elements. IKEA Portugal will decide, at its own discretion and according to criteria of proportionality and suitability, what constitutes a suitable replacement. In this case, IKEA Portugal will not pay the costs of disassembly, transport or assembly, which must be paid by the customer. If IKEA Portugal decides to make the repair, it will pay the cost of the repairs, spare parts, labour and travel for repair staff, provided that the product is accessible for repair without special expenditure and that the provision of the repair services implies no extra costs. This does not apply to any repair work not authorised by IKEA Portugal. Any parts or components replaced following a repair shall remain the property of IKEA Portugal. If the repair or replacement proves to be excessively expensive, IKEA Portugal may choose to terminate the contract.
The guarantees are valid from the date of purchase at IKEA, or the date of delivery of the product if this is a different date. The original purchase receipt is required as proof of purchase.
The guarantees do not apply to products that have been stored or assembled incorrectly, used inappropriately, abused, misused, altered or cleaned with wrong cleaning methods or wrong cleaning products. The guarantees do not cover normal wear and tear, cuts or scratches or damage caused by impacts or accidents. Unless otherwise stated in the "guarantee information" documents, the guarantees apply‑ only to products that have been used for domestic purposes. They shall not apply to products used for non-domestic purposes or to products that have been kept outdoors or in humid environments. It is up to the consumer to prove nonconformity under the terms of the applicable guarantees.
To be able to rely on this guarantee, you must follow the specific care instructions for every product. You can find all product care instructions in IKEA stores or at IKEA.pt/en.
IKEA will provide the tools necessary for the repair of the products it sells for a period of 10 years after the last unit of any product is put on the market.
The IKEA guarantees do not affect the rights provided for in Decree-Law 84/2021, of 18 October, particularly bringing the product into conformity, reducing its price or terminating the contract under the terms of this Decree-Law.
