2nd Time Purchasing VitvalPatGreat product for the cost. Purchased earlier this year for our cabin for grandkids and so pleased we’ve bought another one 5
terrible assembly instructionsKeithI just want you all to know that the engineer/designer of this bed are having a laugh at us North Americans. First off, give yourself 3 to 4 hours to assemble this product. Get a cordless drill with a Allen key bit. This will save you at least 1 hrs and save your fingers from falling off. All the screws are mixed together in 1 bag. All the parts have no labels, so you will be guessing what part goes where. The instructions might as well been written in Madarine or French! Oh, wait a minute, there were no written instructions. The poorly pictures of putting this bunk bed was so bad, I had to take a break from my head exploding. Please don't put this together with your significant other. There is a 100% chance you will get into a fight. The bunk bed is solid and safe, that I approved. I was going to make a video or write the instructions out for the next person. I changed my mind and need more ppl to suffer like I have putting this together. Take Care, sending lots of love. 3
Great value in style and sizeNickolas4.5/ 5 Purchased & delivered to the apartment for our daughter's age 5 and 18 months. ** Leave screws 1/8" out on side rails before attempting to attach to frame. This completely solves issues of holes lining up You can leave nearly all the screws 1/8th out the tighten easily at the end** (the instructions vaguely display this) Highly suggest 2 people minimum to assemble. 2+ hours. On time, fast delivery & great communication. Brought up to my apartment, into the room as requested. Big bunk beds and very sturdy. Girls love it, 5yr old on top and the little one on bottom. 5
Good quality YukEverything is fine and it’s stable. If the manufacturer can mark each end of pole, it would be more easy to refer. 4
Sturdy yet not bulky. Great for little spacesAnonymous reviewerIt is a great design, thanks to the materials, it does not look bulky, but it is quite firm and sturdy. Perfect for small spaces. 5
Worst IKEA Assembly Ever!AlonI should have taken the negative reviews seriously before I bought this bunk bed. Everything the others said is correct: Extremely long and difficult assembly, holes don't line up, and this is not what one should expect form IKEA. I'm returning this tomorrow and I recommend that IKEA recalls/discontinues this product immediately. 1

Not the standard IKEA assembly qualityKarenWe read all the reviews ahead of time & were prepared for it to take longer. It took my husband 6-7 hours . The fabric assembly took longer & there were 2 holes that never lined up. My husband had to drill new ones!! Not impressed. HOWEVER- the bunk bed itself is SO sturdy & functional - though it could use 1 more lower step for our ‘little’ 3 & 4 yr. old Grandkiddies.4

Took approx. 3 hours to assembleHanhFather and husband assembled this bed together and it took them 3 hours. It would have been faster if they listened to me. Their mistake meant taking apart and redoing one section. Overall, not a terrible process. Instructions were clear but you have to read it once through carefully before starting, then continue to follow each step without skipping ahead. Forget the included wrench; use proper power tools. Don’t screw tightly until the end. The kids love their new bunk bed with trundle bed for cousin to sleep over and then store away. Good size and good height.5

Accessories for VITVAL

VITVAL Bunk bed frame, white/light gray, Twin

More relaxing, less materials

Where do your children spend most of their waking hours at home? Quite likely the answer is in their bed. Because when life for slightly older children today often revolves around phones, tablets and friends, a lot more space than that “hub” isn’t really needed. With VITVAL loft bed and bunk bed, we wanted to make comfortable and cozy beds for all children who prefer hanging out there. But the goal was also to considerably reduce the amount of materials to save on nature's resources.

Metal is a durable and stable material and really suited VITVAL bed frames. The question was just how much we could reduce the amount of the metal used without decreasing stability and safety. Product developer Anna Carme and her colleagues performed detailed calculations and safety tests. "We came a long way", says Anna. "But it was not enough ― we thought the bed frames were still too heavy."

30% less metal

Experimenting with materials led to the team replacing the bed's edges with fabric. This meant that they managed to reduce the amount of metal by almost one third compared to similar beds. "We found a strong polyester material that also gives the bed a nice and cozy feel ― both when the children hang out there with friends and when it’s time to sleep."

Easy to assemble

"The fabric is mounted on the frame", explains Anna. "And to ensure that the assembly is simple for all parents, we invited a number of people to test it out." The tests then led to the team dividing the fabric into sections and making the yellow edge bands more flexible so that they are easier to pull on. "I love playing detective, to look for and investigate what we have for different alternatives", says Anna. "Nothing beats the feeling when you finally find a good solution."

Material

What is steel?

Steel has unique characteristics when it is stretched and shaped since it remains strong. It provides strength to everything from skyscrapers and cars to bed frames and outdoor furniture. The steel industry is moving in the direction of more energy-efficient production and stronger steel qualities. It doesn’t lose any of its properties when recycled and today steel is one of the most recycled materials in the world.

Form design process

More relaxing, less materials

The idea with VITVAL loft bed and bunk bed was to make comfortable and cozy beds for all children who like hanging out with their phones, tablets and friends. But we also wanted to save on nature’s resources and limit the amount of metal in the beds. So how do you achieve two so different goals at the same time? Our solution was to make the bed edges out of a strong polyester fabric that gave the bed a nice and cozy feel ― and we thereby reduced the metal by 30% in each bed.
