The most frustrating product I"veLauraThe most frustrating product I've ever put together from ikea. The first time I thought that the instructions weren't clear enough..2
I haven’t opened it yetJillI haven’t opened it yet but I know it’s what I wanted!5
bin never stay indissapointed familyI bought this and loved it. Of course, I saw no reason to keep the receipt; it looked so sturdy! After some time passed, the bins started falling out of the grooves, stacking one inside the other, at the bottom, making access to toys difficult. Now, the bins just fall down automatically and that's how they stay. It's ugly and not functional. Having no receipt, I'm stuck with it! Booo :(1
Perfect toy storage for KidsGreenAppleVery happy with this purchase! Ample storage! Takes up less space than the other storage I had utilized.5
Perfect for children’s toysChenier2019Bought this to use as steps and storage for my sons toys and it works amazing5
Nightmare bin situationmrsk6I received one of these shelf units minus bins second hand several years ago and was initially quite pleased! I bought new bins and away we went! It had been well loved and used in 2 previous families with kids before it reached us so I thought it would be great to buy a few more complete units. I wanted to use them for my kids clothes, as I wasn’t fond of a dresser idea. So I purchased 3 more plus bins. They are easy to assemble, seem solid, with the beautiful, classic design we know and love of IKEA products. However I quickly discovered what other review posters have mentioned, the bins that go along with this unit do not stay in the slots. After a short period of time, the sides of the bins ‘cave in’ slightly and there is no chance they will stay in place. And I’m talking after light use...like the bin half filled with toddler socks and underwear...nowhere near the load a bin filled with toys would be. I purchased a few new bins to get by, but the same thing happens and this is not only due to the bins themselves, but also just the design and construction of the shelf unit. Together they just don’t hold up well long term, and certainly not at the hands of kids who are using it regularly and probably not too carefully. I also want to mention that the second hand unit was constructed with solid pieces. The tops of the ‘steps’ were not the laminated together, or glued pieces that the newer ones I bought were. my son stepped on the smallest ‘step’ of the new unit and his foot broke through where the wood was laminated together. I had to take it apart and wood glue and clamp it together. So I now have 3 semi usable of these sitting around, with bins constantly falling out and I’m certainly not buying more. It’s really too bad, it’s a great look and idea, but not a great combination.2
Bins falling out of rail continuouslynamdkBeen using the storage for a month now, using a mix of small and big bins. We use it to hold the kids' stuffs, and feeling disappointed about the quality. It is uncomfortable to use. The bins keep falling out of the rails (the big and small bins with light contents) so every time my toddlers pulled the bins out, the bin would slide down and stuck outside the rails. Even as an adult, the faulty annoy me. It is even harder for the kids to correct the bins every single time they need to take something out of it. Do you have any solution for this? Would love to make the bins working properly.1
Great toy storage.flygirl84I bought it for my granddaughter. She loves it . She keeps her toys in it.5
Great toy storageIkeayycisKoolWe've had this item for 2-3 years. While I recall the assembly did need some intuitiveness, it wasn't overly difficult to assemble. It serves the purpose well. Sturdy structure. I will agree with other reviewers that depending on what is in the bins (in our case the bin with hot wheels in it) , they have a tendency to slip out of the gooves. Otherwise, it's worth the purchase.4
Perfect for RVJTRCThis is much sturdier than I expected. Using as stairs for toddlers to get to their top bunk in our RV. Good for my 30lb boys. And love the added storage for our space. Fits perfectly when we pull their room slide in.5
perfect for little lego etcAnonymous reviewerWe've had this product for almost 10 yrs. The kids always know where to put their stuff away. Some plastic bins have to be replaced ( small kids sometimes use the drawers to pull themselves up) but otherwise, wonderful product. Very happy.2
great storage for various thingscolinjhad this almost a year. only complaint is that the bins don't really stay in the recessed part if full of something really heavy (ie books). Other than that a great storage option.5
not impressed with assemblydaycare101Assembly of this storage system was a total waste of time. To start with the instructions are horrible and once we figured it out NONE of the holes line up to place the hardware! After an hour we boxed it up and are ready to return except we are 3 hours away from the nearest location.1

Our take on wood

Wood is the material most commonly associated with IKEA furniture, and for good reasons. It’s renewable, recyclable, durable, ages beautifully and it is an important part of our Scandinavian design heritage. At IKEA we believe that sourced in a responsible way, wood is a key change driver for climate mitigation. In 2012, we set a goal that by 2020 our wood would be from more sustainable sources. We are happy to announce that we have reached this goal and today, more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

Forests are critical for life on earth

Forests contribute to maintaining balance in the atmosphere, purify the air that we breathe and are part of the water cycle. They nourish wildlife biodiversity and provide homes for indigenous communities who depend on forests for their livelihoods. 90% of plant and animal species living on the planet need forests to survive. They provide sources of food, fuel, timber and many other ecosystem services that we rely upon. Sourcing approximately 19 million m3 of roundwood per year from some 50 countries, IKEA has a significant impact on the world’s forests and the timber industry and a huge responsibility to positively influence how wood is sourced. Responsible wood sourcing and forest management ensure that the needs of people dependent on forests are met, that businesses can work sustainably, that forest ecosystems are protected and biodiversity is enhanced.

100% wood from more sustainable sources

At IKEA, we work with strict industry standards to promote responsible forestry. We don’t allow any wood in our supply chain from forest areas that are illegal or contain high conservation values or from forest areas with social conflict. Before starting to work with IKEA, suppliers must demonstrate that they meet IKEA critical requirements on wood sourcing. IKEA requires all suppliers to source wood from more sustainable sources (FSC-certified or recycled wood). All suppliers are audited regularly and non-compliant suppliers are required to implement immediate corrective actions. By working together with our suppliers, we are proud to announce that we have reached our more sustainable sources goal, which we set out to achieve by 2020. Today more than 98% of the wood used for IKEA products is either FSC-certified or recycled.

IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030

As pressure on the world’s forests and the surrounding eco-systems increases due to unsustainable agriculture, the expansion of infrastructure and illegal logging, it is time to take an even more holistic approach to protect and support these important resources for generations to come. The IKEA Forest Positive Agenda for 2030 set out to improve forest management, enhance biodiversity, mitigate climate change and support the rights and needs of people who depend on forests across the whole supply chain and drive innovation to use wood in even smarter ways. The agenda focuses on three key areas: • Making responsible forest management the norm across the world. • Halting deforestation and reforesting degraded landscapes. • Driving innovation to use wood in smarter ways by designing all products from the very beginning to be reused, refurbished, remanufactured, and eventually recycled.

We accomplish more by working together

For many years, IKEA has partnered with businesses, governments, social groups and non-governmental organisations to fight forest degradation and deforestation and increase the volume and availability of wood from responsibly managed forests both for our own supply chain and beyond. We are on a journey to improve global forest management and make responsible wood sourcing the industry standard, contributing to building resilient forest landscapes and improve biodiversity.

Material

What is solid wood?

Solid wood is one of our favourite materials and is part of our Scandinavian heritage. It is also a timeless material with many uses. Regardless of the wood species, it is durable, beautiful, renewable and recyclable. We strive to use this raw material as smartly and efficiently as possible to avoid waste – and we also invest in facilities and logistics so that we can increase the use of recycled wood. This way, every tree is put to good use that little extra.
