Ratings and reviews

Really like...understated...Multi-usesLNever used it as a small rug but pleased using it as an outdoor table cloth and also as a beach blanket ⛱. Good size, nice relaxed style, neutral colours, good quality. Looks like it will wash and hang dry well. Very satisfied with this purchase. Plan to purchase another as backup 😀4
Sale is wrongCelineSupposed to be on sale for $16 but was still charged $24 Nonetheless, it is still a GREAT deal at full price. I am happy with it, neutral color goes well anywhere in your home5
Fits my need. Good price on sale. HumaNice and subtle colour. Thickness is upto our liking 5
Disappointed Tiphede Rug TracyToo thin, looks messy due to wrinkles. Bought with a underling, which I despise, it's sticky and doesn't permit moving to place the rug under furniture or my couch easily. Doesn't help in de-wrinkling the 'rug'. As a pet owner, I was tired of steam washing my area rug annually and wanted something machine washable. I've had machine washable area rugs before, but they weren't cotton. Going to give it another week and then decide if it's worth the trek to take it back, or cut my loss and buy a real rug. A throw blanket on the floor just doesn't work for me. I so wanted to like it. 🙁2
good priceFengconsidering its price it looks pretty good. used this to cover area for kids to play where it's easy to get messey5
RugJenniferLove this rug!! Easy to wash and it looks great.. Nice heavy cotton Ended up buying another one :)5
Poor quality rug. ShirleyPoor quality. Not suitable to go under dining set. 2
Fun to customizeRuheePainted designs on ours with fabric paint and it looks brilliant. At this price, it's a great option 5
Carpet for my craft roomMary-LynnPerfect size for my basement craft room; keeps my feet toasty and my cat buddy happy.5
Great value rugAntonellaThis was a good sized rug for the price. Only time will tell how well it stands up to my dog and cat.5
WashableBrendaSimple and soft. It does get wrinkled looking. Likely needs a non slip underpad. The black and natural looks a grey together from a distance so I ended up washing it with beige dye. Much better match for my warm tone living room. Washes up great.4
Beautiful rug but it’s reallyJessicaBeautiful rug but it’s really like a blanket for the floor. Doesn’t stay in place whatsoever.2
Great carpetShelleyGreat area rug for a smaller spot! Brightens up my living room (we have darker hardwood flooring).5
Bunches and pillsMeghanInexpensive but pills terribly and even with the STOP FILT it bunches. By the way, STOP FILT leaves a sticky residue on hardwood.1

Great rug for the priceKatherineIt's exactly as described and I'm pleased with this overall. As others have stated it does arrive folded and therefore the wrinkles are unsightly. I wanted something washable because my cats are jerks, and this fits the bill. I will have to take it to a laundromat with oversized machines however as this will not fit in an average residential washer.4
It’s what it purports to be, I thinkRebeccaPlain cotton flatweave, low-profile, fit-under-my-condo door rug. Neutral appearance. Very basic, very inexpensive. I got it mainly because of its low profile and size, and even more because it’s supposed to be washable. With a dirty dog and lots of muddy shoes in winter, this sounded like what I needed. I haven’t washed it yet, so can’t comment on the usefulness of that feature. I gave it 4 stars just because I haven’t tested its washability.4
Makes a good couch coverSteveflexible enough to drape over a couch when you need some durable protection.4
Love the rug, but be aware of wrinklesShannonI really like the rug, seems great with dogs. Definitely needs the underpad. Takes a bit of work to get the wrinkles out but the effect is quite nice. I like that it is recycled cotton not polypropylene. Can't beat the price.4

Our take on cotton

We use cotton in many of our products, from sofas and cushions to bed linen and mattresses. It is a soft, durable and renewable fibre that breathes and is good at absorbing moisture. All these great qualities make cotton one of our most important materials, but it isn’t without its challenges, much having to do with conventional farming methods that negatively impact the environment and poor working conditions for farmers. With our size and production volumes, we want to drive change in the cotton industry.

Working together to drive change

Each year, IKEA uses around 0.5 percent of all cotton grown around the world. This may not seem like a lot, but the number is big enough to drive change in the industry. For many years, we have been working with partners and stakeholders globally to transform conventional large-scale cotton farming and set social and environmental standards for cotton production. As an example, we helped set up the Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) who runs the world’s largest cotton sustainability programme. BCI exists to make global cotton production better for the people who produce it, better for the environment it grows in and better for the sector’s future. Today, more than 110,000 farmers have adopted more sustainable farming practices within IKEA projects.

Ensuring compliance throughout the value chain

All IKEA products are produced in accordance with the IKEA IWAY Standard, our Supplier Code of Conduct. It sets out the minimum environmental and social standards expected from our suppliers, including compliance with local laws. We do not accept any form of forced labour, child labour or treatments in breach of our supply chain requirements. Our cotton teams across the globe ensure that all cotton used in IKEA products meets the demands of compliance in our supply chain. By having teams on the ground in areas where it has previously been challenging to work responsibly, we can challenge the traditional ways of working and improve the industry. If we discover that we are acting in places where we cannot ensure our requirements are being met, we follow-up on the ground and drive change.

What is cotton?

Cotton is a practical and durable natural material. It comes from the seed capsule of the cotton plant, which forms small wads when it blooms. Cotton rugs are easy to care for because you can wash them in an ordinary washing machine and they can withstand high temperatures. Cotton is heavy when wet, so it's important to check that your machine has enough weight capacity. It's also good to know that cotton may shrink, so you may have to stretch the rug a bit after you've washed it.
